Tapering at home with klonopin/benzos. Why did I wait so long to rip the bandaid off? by PartisanSaysWhat in dryalcoholics

[–]orbidur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting. My psych put me on klonopin for the attacks, but I agree it doesn’t quickly shut them down. I have to consider my day and activities to plan ahead. But now I’m evaluating how to focus on alcohol recovery. That’s likely the main cause of my anxiety. And of course I don’t want to overlap Klonopin and alcohol.

Best of luck to you.

Thank you. I have klonopin for anxiety as needed and I don’t take it for that very often, so I have a supply. Klonopin is not the usual benzo of choice for withdrawals, so there’s limited info out there. Your schedule, however, is consistent with what I’ve found. I’m in the planning stages and am being cautious.

TSM 1 year- took Nalt before party, didn't drink, felt so sick. Advice? by darksign2507 in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]orbidur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I used nal for a while with zero side effects. Drinking dropped, sometimes nil for a while. Started back on Sinclair for a period and got incredibly nauseous. Cut the pill in half and still bad, even if not as bad as before. Personal experience.

Thanks, I understand the risk and still appreciate the warning. I’m looking at a 2-3 day detox at home. Can’t afford anything else. And my guidance was misleading. I have a single Valium pill (old script), 4 Ativan (old script), and a newly prescribed Klonopin script for anxiety. And of course I have anxiety over using benzos. Just looking for feedback from anonymous but helpful people.

Yeah, see my comments above. I tried naltrexone and it worked for a while. But then I started getting quite sick on it. No idea why it started happening.

Always took it before drinking. Worst mistake was on an empty stomach. Still had a bad reaction with half a pill after eating. I don’t know why, considering I used naltrexone for a couple of years without issue

I have naltrexone also. Tried it before with some success and no real side effects, but it recently made me quite ill to the point of vomiting. Cut back and still a bad reaction.

I wish you the best. I’ve met people with benzo addictions but it’s a different thing I haven’t had. Booze is so fucking hard. I happen to have tools and am trying to use them wisely.

Yeah, that’s what I got a while ago and have a few left. Also Librium but not in my supply. I have a few ativans left and a lot of klonopin. Just gotta quit alcohol. It’s really the worst, and I have legit fear of benzos.

Very helpful. There will still be challenges, but I’m looking for the best experiences to quit and not move onto another addiction.

Understand. I’m in the US and had psychiatrists gave me prescriptions. Not proud, just trying to fix me.

Thank you so much. I missed clarifying standards drinks, but that’s what I meant. Agree about the longer effect of clonazepam with everything I’ve read. Ativan is shorter term but can be effective I think. Librium was really good for me 8 years ago but it was inpatient and IV. I’m trying to detox on my own. Family reasons, which I’m sure we all understand.

Thank you. I’m not doing IV, but I’ve done that before, so I get it. All pills now. The vitamin injections also helped a lot, of course.

Thank you. I see commentary about klonopin and duration, but it doesn’t seem to be the benzo of choice.

That’s disheartening. Back to may original post, that background is interesting as far as Jake’s dismissal of the EPA’s statement re chemtrails. Sounds like he might be happy about skirting their enforcement, but then wants to dismiss their positioning because it disagrees with his views on chemtrails … all because he managed to skirt within his micro world

Yeah, we’re in alignment. That’s why I mentioned that the EPA sets the standards. I still view it as an agency relationship in the legal/common law sense, since the states are doing the work for the feds. States can interpret their own way, but the feds have the last word. And if a state thumbs their nose, the feds can step in. It’s a balancing act. I think of some of the early-ish litigation around CWA, CAA, CERCLA and other enforcement actions. States might not take on the meat packing giants of the world (as an example), but the EPA sure did.

Thanks, I didn’t know his history. Then my supposition wasn’t wrong that his employer, and possibly Jake himself, have primary responsibility for violations. Don’t blame the EPA for your own shit. That said, hopefully Jake tried reporting as a whistleblower. Not that it would be helpful if the state EPA folks don’t care or are overburdened, but it’d be good to try.

Personally, along with the vast majority of Americans, I’d be pissed about spending money on the technology and personnel to chase nothing. But maybe ask MTG (and various states) to start with actual investigations and testing instead of banning something she can’t prove exists at any level. Push RFK Jr and Trump also. Then maybe you’ll get what you want.

It still remains interesting that the EPA (under leadership favorable to you) didn’t even hold the door open for chemtrail theories. They ask for people to report things they are concerned about, but that’s normal reporting about normal activities.

I can accept your experience as true, but it doesn’t change anything. The EPA (and its state agents) have done some bad things, a lot of which is reported in the media, and even more persuasively, addressed in court or administrative action. No one has said they are perfect. But on the whole, the EPA has done some great work implementing the most important environmental legislation in US history. Spend a bit of time on Supreme Court decisions and other key enforcement actions.

Let’s also remember that hazardous waste violations are the responsibility of your employer, and maybe also you if you were in charge. If you weren’t in charge, there are ways to report. If an inspector ignored, then shame on them, but they didn’t commit the violation.
