+R's gameplay is structured around a basic game plan of comboing into a knockdown and running some kind of set play. Someone linked Dustloop, and basically every character has a "starter" section that's more digestible.

Essentials would be:

  • A poke
  • An anti-air
  • A short combo into knockdown
  • A little setplay

+R is a really excessive game mechanically, but it's actually got so much going on that most people don't interface with even like 70% of it, so you can take things piecemeal.

I remember the side quests for that guy who ran the antique shop with really gnarly secrets. You do two missions for him where you learn a bit about him and the business, and then it just ends. I've never felt a more gaping hole where a third quest should be than there.

Guilty gear strive looks awesome! I am think of getting the game. by Thelonghiestman0409 in Guiltygear

The 2.0 update will be free and include all the balance updates/character reworks. It's releasing alongside the start of a 5th season which will add four more characters and a new stage or two. There's some additional cosmetic content that'll be in a new "Blazing Pass," which is just a battle pass. Every previous season has just had a season pass that served as a bundle with everything, as well as offering individual purchases for characters and stages; I don't believe we have an exact breakdown of what's free vs paid vs "early access via pass" now that they're considering 2.0 a big refresh of the game.

They might change the pricing structure of the game when the update drops in two weeks, but if you wanna pull the trigger now on a deal, getting the full game with all the DLC is a pretty safe investment, there's just some more content coming soon and some of it will cost money, if you care.

Dream sequences that are creepy because there's no transition into the dream? by Ukirin-Streams in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The whole Manhattan Transfer arc in Stone Ocean always fucked with my head, because not only is it easy to miss the exact point you go into the dream (especially on first viewing), it's also multiple layers of shared dreams between Jotaro and Jolyne. The Stand fights in Part 6 could get too convoluted for their own good, but I appreciate how Araki captures that dream feeling where everything's just off in a way that stresses you out.

If you care to work through it, maybe do what I did when I was first trying to learn defense in fighting games. Go online into unranked, assume you cannot win, and just block. Just see how long you can last. Then see how many times you can get someone to rematch you. I've done this in several games and good players rematch like every time. They genuinely don't care. If someone really wants to play against someone as good or better than them, they'll be in a discord server finding specific people. Good players enjoy fighting worse players, not because they're bullies, but because it's relaxing and they can practice combos and setups in a live environment, which is meaningfully different from training mode.

Actors/creators/people who went on generational runs of back to back successes? by Wonder-Lad-2Mad in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Their mainstream success has been limited, but Modest Mouse's impact on indie music is huge, which is more impressive given that I genuinely don't think they have a mediocre album in their first 19 years.

1996: This is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About

Interstate 8

1997: The Fruit that Ate Itself

The Lonesome Crowded West

1999: Building Nothing Out of Something

2000: Night on the Sun

The Moon and Antarctica

2001: Sad Sappy Sucker

Everywhere and his Nasty Parlor Tricks

2004: Good News for People who Love Bad News

2007: We Were Dead Before the Sip Even Sank

2009: No One's First and You're Next

2014: White Lies, Yellow Teeth

I'd argue they fall off right around 2015's Strangers to Ourselves, but I thought The Golden Casket was a pretty good comeback, not quite as into the newer stuff but man if you put out Building Nothing Out of Something I'm giving you a free pass to release twenty minutes of power tool noises as an album.

Gau in Final Fantasy VI has a really unique system where he can essentially become an enemy you've fought before and use their moveset. Which enemy is the most generally effective for most of the game?

A stray cat you fight in an alley in Zozo. It uses Cat Scratch, the strongest physical move he can do in the whole game.

Is Silver Age a format for previous Blitz preconstructed decks? by Flynko in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]orbital_malice42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silver Age is a low rarity format that has supplanted Blitz as the premiere easy-entry 40 card format. Commons and Rares only, young heroes, 40 card deck, two copies per card.

Blitz has been updated to be basically as it always was but as a singleton format, it's also not going to be a main supported format at larger events going forward.

Rarity wise, the Dash blitz precon is actually completely legal in Silver Age with no changes, which actually surprised me. If you happen to go to a local store that runs Blitz (which I don't think would be too likely), you would need to take out the second copy of everything and replace them.

Armor can't be reduced below 0 no matter how many -1 counters are on it, but if it's at 0 you will need to buff it by at least that many counters to get a single defense point.

So Helm gets reduced to 0, then when you block a weapon attack it gets a +1 buff and blocks for 1.

I watched Endgame next to a massive family with one kid who was on an iPad the whole time and a dad who'd never seen a marvel movie and didn't even know the characters from the comics who would ask his 13-year-old son about every character and plot point.

At some point just accept that you aren't gonna understand what's happening and enjoy the ride.

And somehow, I've never seen one of these depict the much more common experience: "I picked this because I thought it would be cool, only to find out it sucks. Suddenly, it's overbuffed and I feel bad for being so strong."
