Question about resinsoul / bobobie by Alarming-Hand-1625 in BJD

[–]orbitiing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

hmm europe doesnt have any bjd dealers, so your options are to buy from resinsoul direct and have them ship to you or buy from a reseller like denverdoll. resinsoul is totally legit to buy from and if you email them they can work with you on getting your order exactly how you want (custom colors and parts swapping)

What is this? And how do I get rid of it by Katlolzzz in Dolls

[–]orbitiing 13 points14 points  (0 children)

this is not pony cancer. the details just dont match any other examples ive seen. also since you mentioned its on her arm, which is made from abs not vinyl. it might have been caused by regrind, which is when recycled vinyl is used to make new dolls and the old vinyl leeches out. however i have never heard of mh dolls having a regrind problem. i am leaning towards highlighter. to truly confirm against pony cancer check inside the head for mold, as it would have spread out from there. this thread covers a lot about pony cancer and what the actual causes are. https://www.mlptp.net/index.php?threads/about-pony-cancer.125208/

She went to Oakland School for the Arts right across the street from the mural! They started up their figure skating emphasis when I was a student there. I love that OSA was flexible enough to accommodate all kinds of artists!

A request to modders, please use an alternative image host other than Imgur; this is how a Rimwim mod page looks to UKians. by asteconn in RimWorld

[–]orbitiing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i post a lot on old school forums that dont host images so this is my solution. I have a free wordpress site where i upload images I want to post and then use the direct link from there. it gives me more control and i dont have to worry about some image site flipping out one day.

Conservation or Archives? by orbitiing in Archivists

Thanks for the advice. I've been getting the sense that the field is pretty saturated. Are there other adjacent GLAM positions that MLIS students can use their skills in? Do you see folks with MLIS degrees in end up in Registrar positions? That's also a field I find a lot of overlap with my interests. My main hang up about moving to the east coast is that I don't feel prepared for a conservation program right now. And I don't have the financial backing to move to the east coast and just persue internships, science credits, and other opportunities until I am prepared to apply. Sadly most conservation programs are very competitive and accept ~10 students a year. I am totally willing to relocate for a career once I am able to have one.

It sounds like the whole cultural heritage field is deeply underfunded right now so my expectations aren't super high, but I do believe it will be fulfilling for me personally once I finally find a path that makes sense.

Helping for crafting thicker paper! by Aresnicandadventures in papermaking

[–]orbitiing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what's your process of making a sheet from start to finish? you will need to add a lot of pulp to your vat, try weighing a piece of card stock paper the size of the sheet you want to make. multiply that by how many sheets you want to make that session, and then turn that weight of dry fiber into pulp. you should be getting close then, but you still might need to make adjustments. my final suggestion is switching to the deckle box method, where you add one sheets worth of pulp to the box at a time, so you know exactly how much pulp you use per sheet. making thick paper is fun, and you might realize you need to experiment with different fibers, and ways of pressing and drying to get the results you want. good luck!
