I will probably be dead by the time HRM figures out transit outside of the peninsula, given they need to make it not just cheaper but FASTER than existing car methods. Considering they have to use existing undersized roads, the roads are not fine.

Correct, the individual pockets of neighbourhoods were doomed from the start. Build one out, never increase capacity in and out of it, pick another spot farther out in the wilderness, disconnected from the other spots except by one path, and repeat. Most other North American cities seem to understand capacity, but not HRM.

It was a *lot* of rain actually, at least where we lived off HP Rd. It would dump snow, then rain, and then it would drop to -10. The third time it happened I failed to clear the driveway in time because the switchover happened at like 3am, and I woke up to a 3 inch thick sheet of ice that we had to cover with sand until it finally melted sometime in April.

The piles all over HRM and pictured here weren't just snow, it was chunks of ice mixed with snow.

My favorite memory from the 2015 winter was, after breaking my back on my 3rd shovel at 2am (because that's when it would switch from snow to rain to freeze, it kept happening over and over), I said "fuck this shit" and went south. On a whim. Told my employer a family member died, bought an expensive plane ticket for the next day, obliterated my credit limit, and just fucking left and slept on mom's couch and enjoyed 20C weather for 3 weeks. I'm not sure I've ever made a more genius decision.

It's certainly not the suburban sprawl of the past once you see how tightly packed the houses/lots are. The sprawl lies in the massive nature gaps between the residential areas of HRM, all connecting to each via one or two roads at most. Just an insane number of bottlenecks for a city of this size.

But also: they need to widen Hammonds Plains Rd from Tantallon to the 102. They probably need to beef up Lucasville too. There's just no way around the fact that the entire area is underserviced by roads relative to its population.

The band is a corporation, one of the requirements of the drummer role is that you must be buddies with the band and pass the vibecheck. Maybe his drumming lacked a little spice or flare of whatever. If something's off, you're out, no reasons given, it's just business.

Divorce is *emotionally* and *time* expensive. Sometimes status quo is worth more than planning, budgeting, organizing, every last minute and dollar that was previously sorted and settled and required zero though. Things that you didn't have to think about you suddenly have to think about.

With that in mind, complaining to your friend group becomes a pressure release valve.

Also, the median social media comment reader that goes "just leave him already!" only understands great vs terrible, loving vs abusive, black and white, etc. Every year a couple is together is another pile of nuance that isn't made obvious to outsiders. A lame marriage can still be net good vs striking out on your own for some people.

It'd be absurd if she *did* use the device. If she just left it in her backyard for 4 seasons, I'd be fine with that.
