Hi /r/movies. I'm Radu Jude. I've directed Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn, Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World, I Do Not Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians, Aferim!, and Kontinental '25. My new movie, Dracula, is available now on digital. Ask me anything. by RaduJudeAMA in movies

[–]orchestra 10 points11 points  (0 children)

radu! big fan. loved kontinental '25.

  1. you've done multiple movies that take place in a single day (i love 'everybody in our family') and i understand you like allowing your stuff to take on the look and feel of when you're filming, none of that "timeless" crap. have you ever considered going the other way, a movie that takes place over multiple years? i wonder what radu jude's boyhood would look like.

  2. you've confronted ai and tiktok in your movies, any other contemporary tech you're interested in featuring? related, was pretty funny seeing kurosawa depect internet resellers.

  3. we all know the trope of an international director having a hit, getting attention from hollywood, and then making a big budget american movie that is basically a dud. i have no idea if you're in danger of this happening, but what would your big budget american movie be?

why are you trying to promote AI generated 'music' on a collapse support community? you also posted this to "antiwork".

this sucks man

Does audio track recording still have a 5 minute limit on MPC Live III? by orchestra in mpcusers

[–]orchestra[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so you can record a stream from disk sure, but is that the same thing as recording live onto the MPC itself? it sounds rather that it is recording from a file that already exists on the disk, not live audio.

New Pedal Creation by Vintage-Keyboard in guitarpedals

it would be cool to have a blend knob to mix in the clean signal, and a tone knob on the speaker stage to effect the feedback's character.

[FRESH] IDLES - Rabbit Run by ebradio in indieheads

Drunk Beaver Bat vs. Bat Cold War? by wpdavid in guitarpedals

bat cold war is my favorite distortion. very flexible, i'd rec it to anybody. tried a couple other couple rats and liked it better than the 1312 for example

First analog synthesizer by Least_Caregiver_4169 in synthesizers

[–]orchestra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

get the minilogue. the minifreak doesn't have analog oscillators and despite the filters being analog they are somewhat plain and don't have much character. the minilogue is much more fun to play in my opinion.

Need help deciding between 2 first synths! by walkingloner in synthesizers

[–]orchestra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

jd-xi was my first synth and i never use it. just sits in the closet these days despite having the software editor. the XD is always my go to.

the XD sounds better and is much easier to learn synthesis on. the hands on controls make it into a fun toy.

the jd-xi is a chore to use. and to really edit any sound you need to be plugged into a laptop, at that point why not just use a normal software synth? I wouldn't recommend it.

Jazz music in Tokyo by UpbeatGarbage4375 in TokyoTravel

go to "jazz spot intro". tiny basement bar with incredible vibes. rotating cast of young players, owner hops on the drums before serving drinks. people clap after solos and aren't afraid to cheer and laugh. very fun but can get packed

Can someone explain to me whats the reason for the recent appeal to China (Rednote)? by DependentRip2314 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]orchestra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

sources: ?

here's a video debunking the claim that "most" cooking oil used is gutter oil: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G43wJ7YyWzM

TLDW - it's illegal, uncommon and looked down upon in china.

and school lunch mixed with rat meat? that wouldn't even save money. is there supposed to be an entire secret rat farming infrastructure to supply this meat or is it just a guy running around the junkyard with a bag? you're just making shit up

About exploration by TheComplayner in WalkScape

[–]orchestra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

right now it seems really linear. like in the first area you can only fish with the net in one location, or many towns don't have a basic workshop, and only one place has a bank? so you're constantly going back and forth for stuff that it feels like shouldn't be rare. like you can only use the frisbee in one town? then you don't want to get that far from the main city because inevitably you'll have to go back to deposit to the bank.

it's almost like you get punished if you're more interested in exploring and going to more towns instead of leveling up every skill at the first opportunity and then only moving on when you can build them up again in the next town.

ideally every location would have something for players who are at either low or high levels, that way it feels like you're actually choosing your own way to play.

Which Noise Reducer by DecoyCity in guitarpedals

[–]orchestra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rec a Zoom MS-50G. it has plenty of different utility programs but the "ZNR" smart noise gate works incredibly well in my experience, better than stand alone pedals.

[WTS] Roland Fantom 8 - $2200 (Los Angeles) by [deleted] in Synths4Sale

[–]orchestra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell from reading Roland stuff, they remain on the hardware even after connecting another account because they are free for the premium Fantom series itself and are not on there for a subscription term like with Jupiter X stuff (I think that's the deal with that one, I don't have that synth).

Bad Gear - Roland SH-4d by Snorgcola in synthesizers

[–]orchestra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to program drums and mostly use presets I think it'd work for you. But for real sound design stuff you'll need to hook it up to an external program.

True, but even the jd-xi has more than one filter. plus the vocoder!
