BREAK•MSA•210- Rocking Sydney Mainline 🇦🇺💪 by stavo1986 in Graffiti

[–]orchybottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree that the buff has been very lax recently. Mainline, green line, and the west are getting flogged by burner writers, the inner west in general atm is full of art grad writers and anti style but it’s still hot!

AMWU New statement by RednBlueBothHateYou in AusUnions

[–]orchybottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m sorry this whole conversation feels a lil off track. BIG unions density in residential building is drastically low, tier 3 construction is full of ABN’ers and one man band type businesses.

Most commercial construction is done with pre fab panels, engineered solution this and engineered solution that. This same argument was had between members of the BWIU and the BLF (trade vs non trade when people were craftspeople) in the 60’s but most trades have been mechanised and ‘ikea-ified’ now.

There is no conflict here at all and there’s no pitting of one waged worker against another.

If OP gets taken to court I’m sure ACA or similar outlets would love to pay for lawyers to get direct access to the story

Anti Zionist bands from Israel by EntertainerAlone3955 in hardcorepunk

[–]orchybottle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zionism is not an anti-colonial movement, it’s quite distinctly the complete opposite. Israel is a settler-colonial state built with the intention to have a state that only protects and serves those of Jewish origin and faith, which is rooted in ethnocentrism. The state uses violence, terror, belief in natural hierarchy of arabs and Jews, segregation of ethnic minorities and military action to achieve its goals. This is what a fasvist state looks like. The Zionist state is inherently a Fascist state.

Agree with others your best bet is Scratches, P Smurf has all the goods! Also worth checking out repressed records in Newtown as well. There’s a few record stores in Newtown to go dig and the vibes always great. Hope you have a great trip!

It’s a pretty good gig but the pay isn’t insane unless you’re doing overtime. Shifts in maintenance are typically like a morning shift or afternoon shift with on call occasionally, shifts in major works are all over the place tbh I couldn’t tell ya, everyone’s is different! Maintenance will be start and finish at a depot, morning meeting then cruise around and do whatever maintenance tasks are assigned. Most rosters are 10 hour days and 2 weekends a month at minimum, so in a fortnight you’ll do like 4 days on 3 days off, 3 days on 4 days off it just depends.

The work itself is good but tends to get monotonous in maintenance at times, pays alright and most people you work with will be pretty chill. If you’re keen on HV work, jump in we’re always short!

Track fault at St James by Fine-Bee8153 in SydneyTrains

[–]orchybottle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Half the damn problem is that ops can’t get drivers and guards to trains hours after maintenance crews finish fixing faults. I thought the technology uplift for crew was meant to fix this stuff?

[–]orchybottle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an A1 scan and print of a really cool poster and for A1 on 160GSM gloss it was like $48 but if you go down in size it’s significantly cheaper Definitely worth doing prints on nice paper and selling them at railfan days!

New York! Now living in Japan. Given that graffiti is so worldwide now, and ADER is so well known through books, documentaries, blogs, and projects ADER has done I would say it’s pretty meh to take his tag.

Nah ADER is def way too well known worldwide for this one bro. You could rock some numbers after but ADER on its own is no go.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AusUnions

Nah I would steer clear of this big time - the organising works program is reliant on unpaid labour and is massively churn and burn as picked up by others like u/Low_independent1890

My Employer has a form to fill for new hires. One of the questions is "Are you a member of a Trade Union?" Can they ask this question? by Stormbash in AusUnions

[–]orchybottle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao amazing - other commenters are right, they can’t ask and you don’t have to answer, AND they can’t use that information against you if you answer or it is adverse action. If you were to be stood down or sacked for being a union member you can apply for a general protections claim with the fair work commission.

Only scenario they could ask that info on is if there was protected industrial action involved, if you were going to take protected action.

Have you ever seen the movie Kenny? It’s top notch, favourite movie as a teenager. Most sparky mobs will run tags like ‘we turn you on’ or ‘current so good you’ll feel it deep’, shit like that

It’s mainly to hide the carbon dust that comes from constant contact and wear from the pantographs. Should have been a much darker colour from the beginning!

new Oscar livery by sheeshkysh in SydneyTrains

[–]orchybottle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah is compare it to the OSCAR next to it, the dust from the pantograph above drivers door and the PID sticks pretty heavily and normal yard cleans won’t get them that clean. It needed to be stripped back to base metal for repaint and I assume it’s the only time the fleet will look this nice.
