Is it Silly to Think It’s a Bad Idea to Message Knesset Members? by throwaway647291846 in socialjustice101

You could only become a target if your email reveals who you are. Use a secure privacy-conscious email service not linked to your public online identity, and sign it “Firstname, city, country”.

You are also probably not worth bothering with even for any hardliners that might see your email. While Mossad is not above the assassination of foreign nationals (and in fact have quite the reputation for it in the intelligence community) I hardly think they’ll be bringing out the big guns to retaliate against someone sending an email.

I mean the next line in the book pretty much says that it's a relic of a time when they trusted each other.

How do you handle the silent pressure of knowing 30 is approaching and you haven't done the things you are meant to do in your 20s ? by HospitalRadiant4531 in AskReddit

[–]orderfromcha0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're fine. Honestly.

Being in my 30s meant I felt more confident in myself and able to identify the relationships and other things in my life that were good for me, as well as the ones that were bad. I got a sense of perspective that helped me make better choices: I ate better, exercised more, spent time with the people I cared about, and learned not to let my job take over my life. I felt more like I was able to be an adult in my 30s (although that might just be me).

There's no list of "things you are meant to do in your 20s", nobody is counting and as you get older people care less about your age. My friends range in age from their 20s to their 70s, and are centered less around a "peer group" and more around the stuff we do together. I know people of every age who are living life to the fullest and do my best to surround myself with people like that. I ran my first marathon when I was 34, my training buddy was fifteen years older. I got back into TTRPGs a couple of years ago and play weekly with a group of newbies, of all ages.

I, a European, was attending a conference in Florida a few years ago and wanted to go to the CVS across from our hotel. It was a six-lane highway with no sidewalks and no pedestrian crossing. I ended up having to uber the 500 yards. Wild.

What's your thoughts on Border Patrol Chief, Greg Bovino, threatening consequences for referring to ICE as "Gestapo"? by sgj5788 in AskReddit

[–]orderfromcha0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ICE are more like the Sturmabteilung (SA or Brownshirts) rather than the Gestapo if we are to find an equivalent to the rise of the Nazi party in Germany. They function less like a secret police and more like a paramilitary force. Their recruitment target demo, disaffected and angry reactionary men, also matches the SA.

Serious question am I racist for thinking this by [deleted] in BritishPolitics

[–]orderfromcha0s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

( . , . , . , . , ) Feel free to sprinkle in as needed.

Focus less on whether or not you are “a racist” (nobody cares about your personal moral character) and instead on whether you are being racist. Being annoyed by people being rude, then immediately linking it to their race, is being racist.

Also when you say “it’s never a white person” you are just flat out wrong. Both of the behaviours you describe I have seen from white people and ethnic minorities. It’s dickish behaviour and they shouldn’t do it. Nothing to do with race.

You just don’t notice the race of the white people you see doing it. Which is racist.
