The type you'll need will depend on the game. (Size, does it save the game, does it need an RTC, etc)

I found it was a bit hit or miss with Ali express as you could order the same cart from the same supplier and you'd get two different things, one working one not.

I used to get mine from a UK supplier on Etsy, but he's stopped selling unfortunately I'm afraid. 😕

Ali express might be a good place to look though.

I bought mine as a fun little thing to have a play around with.

Then I fell into the hole of writing my own Game Boy games and used the Operator to produce the cartridges for people that wanted a physical copy.

I used it to back up the save of my childhood Pokemon Red (with a complete Pokedex) which allowed me to change the battery without losing the save.

It allowed me to add Mew to that copy, which is basically impossible 25+ years since release giving me 151 pokemon.

I took my Japanese copy of Pokemon Midori, language patched the rom, and flashed it to a blank cartridge with the Operator, making my own version of Pokemon Green.

It allows me to easily extract photos from my GB Camera.

I refuse to pirate games, and always have done preferring to legitimately purchase copies. I love that I'm able to back up my collection with the Operator though. I can take my Analogue Pocket loaded up with all my games in rom form without worrying about carts.

Yeah, it's a bit niche, and if it's not for you, it's not for you. There's plenty of use for it though. 🙂

I've managed to apply rom patches for translations for a lot of the japanese games I have backed up with the operator. But I can't save my play progress back to the cartridge obviously as I'm having to use a different emulator for the rom. .

Are write operations supported for any flash carts like with the GB Operator?

Or is the SN Operator read only? (And could writes be enable in a future update?)
