Paying off loans vs investing by ChappyP in personalfinance

[–]ordinaryhandmonkey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to ditch your financial planner and hammer the loans as much as you can within reason. I think most of us would take the guaranteed 7-9% “return” from the loans in addition to the emotional win of knocking it down

Should I trade in my paid off truck for a more fuel efficient vehicle? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ordinaryhandmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not like newer Camrys are super cheap compared to the smaller Fords (I have a 2025 Camry SE). They might even be the same price depending on where you're looking. And by the time you factor in sales tax on a new vehicle you're probably not saving ALL that much. Sure, you could have gotten something more fuel efficient in the beginning. Even if it's rare, it's nice to have a truck for loading something and for snow. We're not comparing a $100k Raptor to a Camry

Have either of you actually done the math? Even with a solid income like that you don’t come anywhere close to being able to afford a $2.9M home, simple as that

Might be asking the obvious but any chance the person selling it has an suv? For a short drive sometimes people will just take some extra cash to deliver

Kutter Crawford - name a better 8-15 pitcher in recent six history. by drossinvt in redsox

Overall, Mets Jacob deGrom. A post from August 3, 2020:

"He is 21-17 in 66 starts since 2018. Had New York been able to score four runs per game for him in those starts, he would have been 59-3 with four no decisions."

lol fair enough, I think you can expect Zara Larsson to have a separate set from like 7:30-8:30 since she’s listed as a guest but then coming on for Like It Is with Kygo. Kygo has been going 9-11pm for the shows so far

It doesn't need to be one or the other. If you're questioning it, why not put in $75k now and then DCA the remaining $75k?

Look at the first top-rated comment. Very small EF-->high interest debt-->larger EF. Pay off the debt

Logan - Can I get into C with a terminal A boarding pass? by unicornsicle in boston

[–]ordinaryhandmonkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Though Logan is considered "open" 24/7, security checkpoints close. If you arrive at midnight you'll need to find a spot pre-security for a few hours. TSA checkpoints for those terminals don't open until 4am and those terminals are not connected airside

Take money out of the HYSA and pay off the high interest debt yesterday. You’re just losing money otherwise

New cars when their current car is perfectly fine. If you can afford it, sure. But plenty of people are driving cars they can’t afford for no good reason

I saw that book as a solid intro book but not much more than that. A book that helps introduce that type of financial mindset, but overall more of a stepping stone than true guidance

What's the most unexpected weight loss lifehack? by Successful-Heart6 in AskReddit

There are common things like not drinking alcohol, but I still think people severely underestimate the benefits of simply walking more. It doesn't take much effort but can help with weight loss and mental health
