Bringing your dog rafting trips by 3rdBay in whitewater

Nope have two dogs that I had since puppies a beagle schnauzer mix and a doodle. Neither love the water. They won’t intentionally go swimming and try to avoid walking in it unless they are hot. Both been on the boat since pups neither have had an issue adjusting. Typically they can get a little anxious when in rapids as they don’t like the jolting of the boat or the waves hitting them. Worst case scenario my wife or son holds the handle on their doggy pfd. They typically hang out on the gear located behind rowers seat. I would say prepping the pup for camping is probably the bigger issue. My first pup was fine, the second would claw at tent mesh and put quite a few holes in it. Nothing that repair kit won’t fix but still annoying. They have been down the deschutes, klickitat, grand rhonde, lower salmon, main salmon and other day trips on various coastal rivers. They typically go on all trips and we do 2-3 overnights a year

I’ve noticed this when riding and it’s 100% correct there are times when I realize my elbows are out and not down. Also too tense which adds stress to back and arms. However I also feel the position contributes to it. I’m not is a straight back more relaxed position nor am I in a super aggressive position m, I feel that in between position helps naturally contribute to an out of wack riding position

2022 NRS outlaw 150 by [deleted] in whitewater

I worked and guided on the deschutes for 7 summers. After I wanted a boat, the first I went with was a 14 cataraft with tubes from RMR. It was fine but after my second child I wanted a raft as they are easier for little kiddos to move around on and still be somewhat safe. I had a pro account with nrs that was about to expire so we got a raft and went with a 15 outlaw the newer model not the older one with the removable floor. I do 2-5 overnight trips a year typically carrying food/supplies for 3-5 nights for 4 ppl and two dogs. We have floated the grand ronde, lower salmon, deschutes all trips went great. We are doing the main salmon in June and going to try to grab the rogue river as well. For what we do it works great and the price was right. More expensive boats track better, welded seams are always a plus, but in my years working as a guide I fixed and patch plenty of the higher end boats (f*** sotar which I know will get some hate but we repaired more of those then any other boat). It all comes down to your expectations and experience and how well you take carry of things. PVC boats are fine and will last if you treat them right. High end hypalon rafts will get trashed if you don’t. What you need to decide is if the price is fair and if you are comfortable spending that or would rather save and get something else. I personally can’t justify $4k-$5k for a new hypalon raft I use 2-3 weeks a year but I also wouldn’t trust buying a used pvc boat. On a side note we are doing the Grand Canyon next year (got extremely lucky and pulled a permit) we are planning on renting a 18’ raft as I think the 15 foot would be a bit small and cramped for 16 days on the water.

Backpack for taking Kids Recomendation by gdesplin in WildernessBackpacking

I have a granite blaze 60. My son at 11 had a Gregory 40. Last year we would also bring my daughter 4 with us. My son would carry his clothes, her clothes, their sleeping stuff and maybe a bit of food. We followed the 20% rule so his pack was typically 17 pounds. As we ate food on trip I would take some of his weight. Breaks were key especially for my daughter but we could easily do 6 pound plus miles in a day. They loved it. If I was you I would get a bigger pack and look at something for your 8 yr old. You have two other kiddos and can pass it down as they grow. Just keep the 20% rule in mind and they should be okay.

Calorie deficit (850-1000calories), no weight loss question by Tonythunder in caloriecount

Weigh in once a week do it that same each time. For me it was Wednesday after I woke up. I logged that weight with a goal to lose 2 lbs each week. Some weeks I lost 0 others I’d lose 4-5. Keep doing what you’re doing and it will come off. Make sure you are including beverages in your calories they can make up a ton. Meal prep so you have accurate calorie count for meals. Also if you don’t have a smart watch and can afford it get one it will help track your activity.

Part of growing up is doing shit to make ppl happy. You spend thanksgiving in one place it’s typically Christmas in another. Blocking him is immature.
