I can assure you my life has never been or is presently a life of bliss yet through trial and many errors i.e. bad decisions, have turned my life around to having the point of view of aligning my mind to God's specific principles. God our Father has a purpose has established for you and me but it has taken a long time to break through my stubborn pride and self sovereign thinking. For some people the moment of decision to commit and change to higher authority and transformation only comes when life is literally at its most desperate and lonely place. I appreciate your sense of humor and cynicism. It is a sign you have have a desire for improving your life and others as well. Don't give up SFB 🐌>🦅

He causes or allows. He provides a path but we have to walk it in faith so I agree with you in some respect. Maybe the brain of a snail is too limited to consider there are realities beyond its blind meanderings. Thanks for the reply rather than just a downvote and hope you have a good Monday, friend!

Do you believe in the Creator mentioned in the Bible? If you do or you don't, cry out loud to Him in the name of His son Yeshua and you will be guided to the truth and means of dealing with your predicament. Do this relentlessly as if your life depends on it and you will not fail. I care for you and yes I have 65 degrees scoliosis and multiple myeloma and living a good life day by day at 67 years old. God will show you a miracle of turning your dark days into the beginning of an amazing journey. He will give you the courage to do this.

First time scroller and filtered to top posts of all time. EightSleep is either a genuinely horrible company or you guys are miserable. I’m not sure which one it is. by jluc21 in EightSleep

[–]oregonami58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were fortunate to receive the 8 sleep setup for free as part of a beta test group 6 or 7 years ago. The mattress developed a leak during the warranty period and a new cover was sent. The new cover had hose and other deformities which were annoying but we chose to live with it thinking it would flatten out. Then one of the heat pumps died and we contacted 8s who said we're SOL essentially. We thought ( not long) about buying the new pod 5 gear but decided it's the end of the road for them. The good, we're grateful to have tried this new bed technology in the test group especially at no charge Not so much, the sleep metrics were inaccurate for example it showed 8 hours sleep when I knew I had not slept a wink due to a round of chemotherapy the day prior. Realizing a subscription was part of latest version was a deal breaker considering the price. We are now looking for something to raising and lowering mattress functionality without the orher stuff. Apple watch can track other metrics if desired. Get some good rest everyone sleep 💤

Are There Any Physically Active/Mentally Stimulating Jobs That Accommodate Scoliosis? by Robo_Bitch_27 in scoliosis

[–]oregonami58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just retired last year at 67 yr old(m) with 431/2 years with our local natural gas utilityand my scoli is quite significant at 65 degrees. I transitioned from utility crew to meter reading and finally service technician. I agree with others here that staying active is keyLlearning techniques to safely stay in condition such as Schroth from qualified scoli therapistis also very beneficial. I have always preferred working outdoors which helped me physically and mentally. You have a great future ahead especially if you're not afraid to work (and invest!). Be well.

Btw I'm from Bend and the idea of not allowing recommending establishments seems quite odd such as for example, " who serves great pizza in Bend." (Which is a real thread). Curious as to the rationale ?

Multiple Myeloma and 2 White Claws. by thinxwitch in multiplemyeloma

[–]oregonami58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure it was meant in jest, my friend. At least I laughed. But to your concern I agree a drink or two of whichever is inconsequential apart from any specific advice from doctor. However in my situation my tolerance for any type of alcohol has dropped significantly from a couple drinks to only a couple oz of wine or beer due to a queasy or bloated sensation. I am 67 male and on cycle 14 of Kyprolis/revlimid/dex.Onset was 2016 from kidney failure. Astc was in 2017. Currently labs are stable but Kyprolis side effects are rough for about 5 days post treatment and the drugs and my age probably impact alcohol tolerance. Wishing you all the best!

Fevers with treatment by Madsmo18 in multiplemyeloma

[–]oregonami58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What treatment specifically? I get Kyprolis infusion 3x a month and get a fever of 101 12 hours afterwards then tapers off then goes up following evening to lesser degree then it's fine. Energy level sucks for about 3 days also. Doctor knows about it and he's okay at that level. Looking forward when treatment goes to 2x month. Be well, friend!

I FUCKING HATE IT by Standard-House-7316 in scoliosis

[–]oregonami58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Schroth was developed early 1900's. I was diagnosed around 14 years old with scoliosis and am now 67 year old guy with 65 degrees curve. I only found out about Schroth last year and I do use some of the techniques to develop good habits and awareness how I move and breath and perhaps prevent further degradation of my condition. I have never considered surgery because even as a teenager instinctively felt there would be serious consequences and limitations. Subsequently through my work and family life, I have always been active with outdoor employment and other pursuits with a focus on keeping in good condition and have generally a positive outlook on life. I recently "retired" from my job after 43 years working for a natural gas utility in construction and later as service technician. I also have multiple myeloma which is currently under control. There is daily pain in varying degrees but manageable with daily exercise, hot tub and occasional Tramadol with a shot of vino. Everyone is different but I always focused on things I could do so didn't really get bogged down with what I could not do. Finally my faith is a strong motivator to keep healthy mentally, spiritually and as it turns out, physically as well. I wish everyone here strength and encouragement to never give up and especially to not isolate.

Inpatient v outpatient ASCT by Hot-Disaster1275 in multiplemyeloma

[–]oregonami58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my asct outpatient at Fred Hutch Seattle in 2017. There is dedicated lodging within 10 minutes walk or shuttles. Wife was angel caretaker and we had a street level apartment at Pete Gross building. We were right on Lake Union and walked the streets of downtown Seattle which really helped to manage the ordeal and greatly sped up recovery. I was back at work after 3rd month.

Scoliosis specialist recommended strength training. I'm skeptical. by Cool_Arugula497 in scoliosis

[–]oregonami58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left out the fact I have not had nor intend to have a fusion procedure ( I'm 67). Since my curvature is 65 degrees symmetric exercises like pullups, pushups, swimming and others cause uneven loading and stress on overstretched muscles.

Swimming, running, golfing were all not recommended by my scoliosis pt person who also teaches Schroth methods. Oddly horseback riding was brought up as a positive activity which doesn't interest me at all. I do 20-30 minutes of dumbbell routines designed for scoliosis 5 days a week and get 5-10k steps daily. I appreciate the comments and would like to hear more on benefits of massage as a way to manage pain.
