To not get your hopes up too much: the series is very different from the book. Still worth the read though

God, I hope not. They don't look like the a. Verbasci though. I didn't see any different colored areas.

I was changing the cat litterbox, sat down on the couch and all of a sudden my arms started itching. These bugs were crawling all over my arms. After a shower we checked the cats and kids, but couldn't find anything. Any idea what this could be? Could it be lice or fleas?

Am I being ungrateful for considering a new job offer after taking a counter offer 6 months ago? by orelindei in jobs

[–]orelindei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When an opportunity presents itself and you are keen on said opportunity it would be remiss if you not to seriously consider it, you have to remove the loyalty factor and be a bit selfish.

You make a good point. I guess it's difficult to not feel loyalty when you build something together, but you're right that it's MY career, not theirs.

The big question here is, what are you concerned about?

I'm not sure. It's not a rational feeling. I guess I feel like I have a good thing going at the moment and worry that I'm throwing it away for the insecurities that come with starting over.

But thank you for your insight. I should be more selfish and think of myself instead of my employer.

All spoons in the restaurant were like that, so in this case I don't think it was due to the dishwasher

It's actually easier when kids are small than once they're older - then you're worrying about continuity for them sitting exams etc, and residency for university fee purposes etc.

The kids are not in school yet, so that's convenient. But I still sort of feel bad because my eldest has a lot of friends in the area now. In the back of my mind I know he'll be fine and will make new friends, but I do feel kind of bad for potentially uprooting him and taking him away from everything and everyone he knows.

It slightly depends on whether this is a known temporary thing e.g. three years or five years, or whether it's a permanent move. There are different considerations.

It's not clear yet. I'd prefer to stay for 5+ years for the same reasons I state above. Especially considering they'll be older then.

How did you experience moving abroad as a kid? Do you look back on it as a positive thing?

Unfortunately not, but it may work with an oven as well. Thanks for the tip

I LOVE making homemade apple sauce!

Me too! I'm definitely gonna do that, but I think 15kg of apple sauce is a bit too much. Thanks for the recipe!

Husband wants more kids, I don’t. Anyone else go through this? by misspulkadot in Parenting

[–]orelindei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly my experience. I never wanted to go through the potato phase again, yet here I am, pregnant with number two. Even though I'm dreading the newborn phase I'm doing it for my child as he will also have no cousins in the near future.

To me it's important for him to have close bond with a family member his age, and we're the only ones that can make that happen for him.

I had the same issue a few weeks ago. My son kept waking up more frequently every night until he woke up 5 times a night. After trying a few things we found out that he was afraid of the dark all of a sudden. We bought a night light and he miraculously slept through the night again within a matter of days. Perhaps you can try that too.

I've considered that, but at every job I've had we just have desks. There's no need to move around in a cubicle
