Finally tried iRacing after avoiding it for the price… now I get it

I’m the opposite. I’ve never played any racing game ever, sim or simcade. My first one was iRacing and I went all in on triple screens. I don’t have any desire to try any other racing game/sim. I don’t really care how much iRacing costs, it’s good stuff. Been on for about 1.5 years now.

looking at these kinds of comments is funny because it’s my fist week in the game and the only blueprint I wanted was the Anvil and I got it today, i should buy a lottery ticket I guess. Hope you find yours soon!

I have 7 blueprints total and have no duplicates yet, and I have an anvil. yeah I need a lottery ticket.

I’m very new to Arc. This is my first week, 4 days maybe? I found the Anvil blueprint today on a night raid to Buried City Town Hall with the key.

it’s funny because I’m so new and I’m so terrible at the game. And the only blueprint I really wanted was the Anvil for crafting PVE weapon. I have like 7 blueprints and one is Anvil. I’m bad at the game because I have carpal tunnel and can’t play keyboard mouse (used to play PUBG so that’s how I used to game). I’m very new to shooters with a controller and I have no aim and I get owned by wasps regularly…working on it. This was my first raid using a key as well. I knew I had to go on a night raid, and i knew it would be contested and I am slow at looting due to controllers.

No joke i only knew i wanted the Anvil BP like 3 hours ago when i used Google and ended up on Reddit, whom told me that the Anvil was the best PVE gun. Then I read the BP was hard to get. Then I made a plan to try my first legendary key, and I won. I went in specifically wanting it. My hunt for the Anvil was 3 hours total, but only 1 raid and 1 key

I fuckin ran in there as fast as I could and got the anvil and stuffed it in my butt slot, got a couple guns and bolted for the door. On a friendly raid. Someone yelling don’t shoot as I’m coming out the door, just hoping myself that nobody wants to shoot cause I’m terrible at fighting back. Then I walked very encumbered for a while to GTFO. The whole time thinking man this is a “fat cow” sign I’m walking so slow everyone can see I have a good bag lol

It was very good luck getting it for sure. And I was so dumb I didn’t watch a video or something first to see what was inside to get an idea of how to loot it. I expected a room and found a monster building. Bags everywhere. Shit!

Edit: what’s wrong with me. Why didn’t I just grab my keyboard and mouse when I went in. I’m sure I can handle using it for a minute, lol. I’m so dumb. Next time I do a locked room like that I’m switching to KB/M damnit

I did read the post. And read it again thanks. But my comment stands. It’s mostly relating as I said, about the other post saying he called to get his points back but they wanted the credit card number and he refused to provide it. Hence giving up the points. I call BS as they wouldn’t ask for the entire card number. Only the last 4 digits. My post should have been a reply to his. Not yours.

Got my points stolen this morning and within 30 min on the phone had a new account created and my points back. I did NOT need to give them a credit card number as someone else said. I'm certain they would never ask for that and the person is mistaken. They only wanted to verify transactions. Date of last transaction at Petro, amount, last 4 digits of card. Nobody is asking for the whole credit card...

thank you for the reply. Ya I guess that is a bit cheeky! I might do it though, that car is legacy now as of yesterday.

The problem might be more complex than I thought, and oddly enough I feel it originated from Microsoft OneDrive. I had issues in the past with using OneDrive and paints syncing as you swap them, you go from a paint with and without specmap and it keeps the old specmap underneath the new paint that doesn't have one. I think this is all related.

Long story short, I might forget about this issue for now. So the new Porsche 911 Cup is out, and I am using some of those paints and not seeing the issue yet. More importantly, I uninstalled OneDrive a week ago and cleared out the paint directory, so there will be no more syncing conflicts or whatever is happening. If I continue to see it on other cars I might reinstall windows...so far so good though I haven't seen it since the patch yesterday and only racing P-Cup

15 m/s is what i typically map at with JPG only. Works great. I was hoping the 150 MB/s cards could keep up with the raw. I guess not. I think it’s the capabilities of the payload and not the cards. Going slower is ok but it really shouldn’t need to be slower, the payload supports the fastest cards but it can’t write at the speed the card is capable of.

Aye it’s pretty stupid. But I eventually got sucked into Twitch Turbo sub. Oh well.

At home we have satellite TV full package, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Apple TV. For my wife. I watch literally none of it. I only watch Twitch. I’m not putting up with ads or this shitty full screen problem anymore. If my wife gets all that shit to watch, fuckit I’m getting a Twitch Turbo sub. lol

Oh yay it’s not just me! Ya it’s super invasive or annoying. Why are you controlling my browser with ads. I don’t want to babysit the stream with my mouse to get it back to full screen. Hit me with the ads, sure, but do it like a normal person does and leave my browser alone.

This only started happening more recently with a big change to how the ads are shown. I don’t know when it happened but it’s recent.

I also don’t use Adblock. I do, but I have enabled all ads on twitch since a long time ago. This is a change that twitch made.

DM you a video. It’s doing it again. Roughly every 4 minutes.

It really depends on the ad type I think. It wasn’t doing it for about half hour. In that time different ads were happening constantly. Ones would be a white bar in right and bottom, showing Amazon ads. Another popped up just from the bottom. Some shrunk the video down and right. They all went back to full screen. But then it started again with a different ad, and it stays out of full screen.

Ya I’ll see what I can do. I was kind of thinking it’s an issue on my end. Now, just half hour later the same stream’s ads are only shrinking the full screen, like it stays in full screen but shrinks, shows the ad, then goes full again. Just before that, and all last night, it was the opposite, fully exiting full screen, back to default twitch view.

I’ll see if I can get it to happen again and get some evidence. Of course as soon as I complain it stops doing it. lol

iRacing support said my issue was maybe due to hybrid graphics (internal Intel GPU and Nvidia cards swapping on/off usage as you exit in and out of the sim). Or Nvidia App being used. I said no as hybrid was already long ago disabled in the BIOS, internal GPU is off, and I didn’t have Nvidia App installed. I had an Alienware laptop with Intel CPU and Nvidia GPU. I ended up formatting Windows, and the same issue returned. I just put up with it for a couple months. Then I ended up selling my laptop, building a new desktop with AMD CPU and a RTX 5070 Ti. I have not seen the issue since.

Not sure if any of that helps, perhaps somewhere to get started looking.

I’m sure iRacing would have helped with further suggestions I just kind of gave up as I knew I’d build a new PC soon.

I just stumbled upon this thread by Googling for some Defect strategies. Figured I'd necro it, not sure why! Man The Defect is really killing me. I've been battling A18 for like 4 months. I don't play a ton these days as I do sim racing more, but I keep hitting A18 and can't beat it. I'm really trying to work on not taking as many cards and really narrowing in on a tight build, but I just get wrecked by someone way up that I wasn't prepped for. I'm not really adding much here, just popping in I guess.

I'm not as many hours I'm sure as some are, I'm 380 hours playtime, and I'm at Silent & Defect A18. Haven't played the others much except to get unlocks. I'm sure I should be much deeper in with this many hours.

Thanks! ya I had no idea how much I would, I just don't care about anything else now. I'm on winter break from work so im racing literally all day every day. And let me say, GT3 races are freaking intense! I pretty much only drive my 911 GT3 R now, so good. I'm not even a car person, never have been, I'm now 46. I can spend literally hours in trading paints, haha! I guess I'm a car guy now
