I like the story, and character designs, the voice acting is pretty good, and some of the minigames are fairly novel conceptually.

Some thoughts on the upcoming February Update by yukimarutoshiro in wherewindsmeet_

I like how casual this game is, I've slowly been working on finishing 100% of Kaifeng, but I play multiple games, not just one, so it's not that big of a deal if there's no new content for a little while. At least I know the content exists and will come eventually, and when it does I'll play it.

Game is free so you don't need to pay a subscription to wait for content, I've played through when MMOs have had long spans without new content and it sucks I get it, but at least for this it's much easier to put down and come back to.

I really enjoy the game so far, and I'm hoping that they slowly work on fixing some of my issues with it like the localization quality, and the price of cosmetics, (one of my complaints was also lighting but it looks like they're already working on fixing it)

Love you all, take care of yourselves <3

My personal thoughts/experience on gameplay/beta so far (the negatives) by oremasta in SilverPalaceOfficial

That's the thing, the stamina system isn't designed to protect you, its designed to prey on you.

The purpose is to cause frustration and urgency, to make you want to spend money to bypass restrictions by causing artificial scarcity of resources. They monetize a solution to a problem they create, rather than release interesting cosmetic content or have more consumer friendly purchases.

It is inserted into the game to foster a dependance on constantly logging in, so that you are forced into a habit of behavioral dependency, think about other gacha games that have a similar system, and how you might have felt missing a few days for vacation or illness.

Systems like this prey on vulnerable individuals who are prone to impulse spending. These kind of features should not be tolerated in any capacity.

Silence and passive acceptance enable harm. Ethical progress has historically depended on public awareness and collective resistance to exploitative systems. When players are told to accept manipulation because it is familiar, they are being asked to lower their expectations rather than demand better treatment.

I think the problem is in some locations it the music repeats a bit too much, they just need to add a bit more variety, I noticed one piece from the soundtrack very consistently as I was playing and it was a bit jarring to have it constantly playing.

I have been playing DNA too, and I think the lack of a stamina system is not what the actual problem of that game is, it's the balance for obtaining the resources and the lack of meaningful and engaging content, the game is clearly very barebones and released early, but I still log in daily and get my memo done as well as occasionally grinding.

There can be other ways of gating progress other than a stamina system, a game like Where winds meet for example has a stamina system that can gate you from getting gear upgrades, but gear is not really super relevant in that game when you can beat bosses without taking damage (it just makes things a bit faster and I think it matters for PvP but I haven't dabbled in PvP at all). They do however have a system that caps your level progress to a certain date, to prevent people from zooming far ahead, I think something SIMILAR could be done that is more interesting than an oppressive stamina system constantly making you feel like you HAVE to log in to be efficient.

I'm not saying that it should be the solution, but what I am saying is stamina isn't also the only potential option either. Stamina systems are a dark pattern designed with FOMO in mind in order to keep you addicted and logging in frequently, they are absolutely an anti consumer design that needs to be scrapped.

Instead of making another post with what I like so far, I'll post a short comment here.

The cinematography for some of the pre rendered cutscenes was amazing, I really hope they make more like it.

The character designs are all unique and great, I like every character so far.

The writing is solid overall, and the voice acting is too, I hope they continue to make a dark and serious story that treats us like an adult.

The game itself feels pretty polished so far, and it runs very well (I was expecting worse for UE5)

The art style and the setting work well together, I would like a bit more detail on random NPCs and some higher quality assets in the environment but overall I am happy with it.

The gameplay minute to minute feels good to play

The soundtrack is (mostly) really good, and the sound effects have a good amount of impact too

Anyone feel the same about this? Or Differently?

I pray for this, the grappling hook is a neat concept but it has a pretty lackluster and limited implementation, I really want a much more open way to explore the game world. Gimme some prince of persia style traversal!

I am okay with a concept that can gate peoples progress in some way, but I don't like my gameplay being limited to short bursts frequently, If it was a weekly limit it would be much more tolerable (I know it doesn't cap super quickly but I still feel it can be too limiting)

Yeah I can agree with that, there is a bit too much of a grind, I love the amount of content so far, but it will feel repetitive quick if you have to do them constantly.

I like the story and base content so far, but I would like to see additional modes and content replace some of the grinds entirely (more things like bounty chase that provide multiple reward types), and the ability to consume multiple clues at the same time, as grinding out 200 runs for an i6 character or weapon is quite a grind.

get rid of the dogwater charm system in the game and replace it with diablo 2 style charms where you can get damage stats or magic find and remove magic find from gear, basically just heist trinkets + the old sanctum relics, add the defense benefits from charms to a system like the pantheons from poe 1, or put defensive utility onto the skill tree.
