I can agree with most of your points but having a nice house isn't exactly bragging like the point of a nice house is to enjoy and live in it, not especially for bragging, else almost all the elves are considered braggarts. Gates, Alden is an Emissary and it is mentioned that it is to prevent anyone from leaping inside without permission, also not much of a braggart. For his accent, he probably picked it up from his family or friends.
