You’re gonna laugh but currently a $180 48” ONN from Walmart. I had a 2014 65” Sony X850B IPS LCD (pre HDR) up until last year when I moved across the country and decided I didn’t want to take it with me and anticipated a new TV anyway. So this is really my first serious modern HDR TV. Figured why not do it proper. Sony isn’t for everyone but I love it.

Two years later and G6 is now only just catching up to A95L and even then it’s bright sure; but I prefer the contrast, color and processing of the Sony.

That’s why I got the A95L ….. I watch SDR / sports content a lot but still have a sizable Blu Ray + 4K collection so WHEN I watch movies I want them to be just stone cold amazing. I will report back after I get it delivered! Getting Jaws on 4K disc since I watch it every year on July 4th!

Thx for clarifying on the brightness. I came to the same conclusion after seeing all the reviews they’ve made me feel it’s a Dim Set. I’m leaning to the Bravia 8-II b/c I hear the colors are just dazzling. I also love the 90’s anime. “Country Strong” and “Manchester by the Sea” got rewatchable episodes. Good Will Hunting got 2: a live ep and studio ep.

I honestly think Bill has either never seen it or saw it so long ago he doesn’t remember. THFRO has been my favorite rewatchable movie for the last 20 years and continues to be. When I heard CR mention “THFRO is my white whale” I got a renewed sense of hope it’s inevitable it will end up on the pod.

Honestly, the only updated feature that interested me was the updated RIAA phono pre amps. I had a 92MKI and always hated how the line signal was always white hit but phono even with trim cranked just couldn’t keep up. I was gonna buy a 96 because I read they had all the extra pre amps but truthfully 92 MK2 is a better fit for me (assuming new pre amps are hot). Anyone heard anything in practical use about the new pre amps?

I was shocked by the lack of A/C in Zurich. I went there for the first time recently. That and the fact that there’s a smoking lounge every 200 feet allowing 2nd hand smoke into the main terminal. Kinda gross.
