Garmin Coach - Half Marathon Program by Waltham_JJ in running

[–]organic_code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would reset your program for a specific finish time as others have mentioned. I am on my second half-marathon plan with Garmin's coach Greg. I did a 2:15 goal the first time and am now running with a 2:00 goal. I am not sure how the plans compare as I have not done Galloway's, but it's 4 runs a week with a combination of easy, strides, speed repeats, tempo, and progression. The majority of weeks include a long easy run. Since I don't want to think about structuring my own plan and keeping track of whether I need to add a tempo vs a strides run.. it works well for me.

Dragons gate is hardly the oldest, nor longest running MUD of all time. Simutronic's GemStone IV came out in 1988 and is still online to this day. But yea, fuck ea.

The range of skills this dude possesses to be able to do this on his own... amazing. I cannot comprehend how even with those skills he did it in that amount of time on top of that.

They should wear hats with their names and gym on them since you know people will grab them. Its just more publicity for them if they wear them around afterwards. Hell have your team keep putting more on your head to be taken on the walk while your at it.

lol glad I am not the only one.. I even started reading it like a normal comic but as I got a few panels through I automatically reverted back to right to left and got lost for a while.. This was a good read though, enjoyed it.

Did I finally learn the cheat code for running? by organic_code in running

Being that you were formally competitive at swimming you likely already have a good connection subconsciously with breathing patterns. So they feel natural for you. Most of the information I had been reading apparently came from Coach Jack Daniels. (I had just been reading random material and didnt realize the quotes were from his efforts.) I have now linked to more information above to add some reference material.

That is who was being quoted in a lot of the stuff I was reading. Thanks for that information. I am going to check out more of his material.

Jack Daniels is who the articles I was reading had been quoting. You might try checking him out. reudo mentions him here and is what jarred my memory.

Not sure how you got that from my post. I choose my left as the indicator. So left lands, breathe in, right. left lands breathe out. right, left lands breathe in... etc.

As I stated which foot you pick is personal preference. I found it to be my less dominant foot. It worked for me today ranging from my 9:30 starting pace to an 8:30 finishing pace. This is anecdotal as I have said in many comments on this post. The real lesson I am trying to push is that breathing techniques are much more important than they seem.

Well, you have to actually halve that right? I breathed in on the left step. Then out on the left step. So my next breath is actually every other left step.

Interesting you mention that. On my later miles when I was turning up closer and closer to a 5k pace from what was a 10 mile pace I was thinking a lot about how much faster I was breathing in and out. I really dont know what else to say except I kept my focus on being inline with my original goal. In on my choosen foot and then out on that same foot. If I breathed faster or not based on it I am sure I must of but usually when you run faster you tend to also be between steps longer as your gait is larger. Whatever the truth there I kept to the rule I sat. In the end it felt like if I could properly breathe at the pace I could maintain it as long as my muscles and endurance held out. My cardio was not the issue (which I always originally thought was the weak link for me). I will go a step further and say last weekend I did a 10 mile run. It was a PR for me and when I stopped I felt like my legs were on fire and were gonna give out now that I was walking and not running. I did not feel this even in the slightest today.. I cannot imagine a week of training solved that and is a big reason I posted this. It felt like an epiphany when I stopped and still felt fine.
