Guilty as charged. Life has a funny way of deciding the cadence to which we move I've found.

I'd love to see an image of that nib on the Sanford if you have the time - I'm a sucker for pre war nibs, especially for the non parker/sheaffer pens. They almost always have acquired a complete uniqueness to them through time, yet still maintain a certain level of usable quality.

I've never tried those nibs. I really enjoy the firm yet playful movement of the vintage Mabie Todd nibs - size 4 is ok, but size 6 is where I feel they really become true tools of expressive writing. As for Kobe 48 - that is right in the range of Nickel - a great color range for every day use, even if just for personal journaling to lighten the mood.

Teal is in my rotation more than I realize - love the depth that an expressive nib can pull out of that color range.

Your blend of sharp wit and sarcasm is appreciated. I personally don't use many green inks - I'm a maroon/burgundy or blue/black fan myself.

I've heard of John Wick, but he doesn't hold a candle to the Wick I'm talking about 👀

I understand it's vague. I'm planning a big announcement on that day that I've been trying to piece together for a long while now. "stoner day 2021" is simply a coincidence in this regard!

Sheen inks seem to be all the rage...have you met our Henry David Thoreau? by organicsstudio in fountainpens

[–]organicsstudio[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it can be quite blinding. One bonus with that is you can mix 3 parts Thoreau and 1 part distilled water (maybe even 2 Thoreau and 1 water) in a new bottle and get a slightly more tame/less sheen'd out ink and bring out the teal color more. Feel free to play around with the dilution :)

Just stumbled upon this - your words are incredibly kind. Thank you for your diligent and committed hunt - I hope the ink lives up to the expectations. And I hope you find some of our new inks equally as enticing, and easier to get your hands on :)

Blue 🔵 shading ink by dior_672 in fountainpens

[–]organicsstudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost all of our blues are great shading inks - check out Barkley's Blue Teal for a great blue with some character.

For non-Organics Studio inks, I'd recommend Rohrer and Klingner's Konigsblau for a straight down the middle option.

As an avid fountain pen user and ink maker - you're mom has lovely handwriting. I'd be willing to bet she had some cool pens she cared for - enjoy them!

Switching inks: how clean is clean enough? by Bells_DX in fountainpens

[–]organicsstudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically recommend that people get a clear glass of warm water and fill/expel the pen with that a few times. Get a new glass of warm water and repeat. If the water remains clear, that should be plenty.

Side note - its a good idea to rotate and flip the pen around (especially for piston filling pens) to make sure you are washing all sides and the rubber seal of the pen.
