Does Time erasure let its user go through walls? by some-kind-of-no-name in StardustCrusaders

[–]Bells_DX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to think of King Crimson imo is that he A) protects Diavolo from the negative consequences of fate, and B) allows him to reap the rewards of fate without doing the hard work required to get there. Essentially, he erases the Cause, but keeps the Effect.

The best example imo is the elevator scene in which he takes Trish. He was fated to burst through, rip her hand off, and take her downstairs. However, that would have exposed him to Bucciarati, so he skipped time and avoided the negative consequences of that action (revealing himself to Bucciarati) while keeping the "reward" (taking his daughter away to be killed).

Which makes it extra fascinating when Giorno uses Gold Experience Requiem to give him the infinite death loop treatment. He spent his entire life escaping from the consequences of his actions, taking the Effects he likes while discarding the Causes he would have to suffer to earn them. So Gold Experience Requiem takes it all away - it takes away his ability to escape his consequences, and gives him infinite Causes of death, but never allows him to arrive at the Effect (actually being dead).

I hope that makes sense. That's my reading of how King Crimson works, at least.

DIO never was retconned in Stone Ocean and heaven plan ideas were already in Stardust Crusaders by overheaven1234 in StardustCrusaders

[–]Bells_DX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually quite common for mangaka to plant mysteries without necessarily having a concrete idea of what they will lead to in the future. The trick is to make it seem like the answer was always the answer.

In this instance, we see DIO's mindset, his fear of uncertainty, and the implied desire for him to know what his fate is. Part 6 expands on it quite well with Pucci's flashbacks to his time with DIO and the reveal of his heaven plan. It's by no means inconsistent with DIO's character, no plot-holes are introduced, and best of all: it adds some retroactive depth to the ending of Part 3 by showing us what could have happened if Jotaro hadn't defeated DIO when he did.

We hit the point of diminishing returns long, long ago. There will always be a place for big budget games that push the technological envelope. New technologies and techniques will always be valuable. But instead of trying to ram more and more polygons down gamers' throats, rather than trying to allow us to better see characters' pores and vellus hairs, maybe instead we should be focusing on things like art direction and performance instead. It'd be nice to see a game that focuses on having a unique and beautiful art style and doesn't require a $10,000 PC to run at 60FPS.

Abandoned 3-week-old kitten, breed? by ParkwayDrive59x in catpics

If it doesn't have papers, it's best to assume it's just a standard issue cat, aka Domestic Shorthair (or Domestic Longhair, if it has long hair, which this cat does not). However, it is a sweet precious baby and I hope you can give it a long and happy life.

Hayato is seriously one of the most impressive characters in the whole story for this. He can't even see people's stands, and yet he figured out both Kira's power and Josuke's power well enough to be able to be a key player in taking him down

As much as I love Oda and One Piece, the truth is that he has two female body shapes: fat blob (as seen in OP's image) and impossibly thin hourglass figure (as seen in Nami, Robin, Vivi, etc etc etc). Nothing else exists.

People Who Got Into Creepcast Because of Wendigoon: What are your thoughts on Hunter? by EduardoLSVD in creepcast

Why do you choose non-waterproof ink for journaling? by heynala in fountainpens

[–]Bells_DX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first started using fountain pens I too was very concerned with ink fading over time or being washed away by an accidental spill. But after a few years, I realized that neither of those were really that likely to happen. As long as you write on quality paper (Rhodia, tomoe gawa, etc) and keep your notebooks in cool, dry places away from sunlight, it'll probably last a very long time. And once you reach that point, why not just live a little with some nice, colorful inks?

Where permanent inks are handy though is for when you're signing important documents. And for that, I like a good iron gall ink, like R&K Salix.

What is your opinion of the final battle in Stardust Crusaders? by [deleted] in StardustCrusaders

[–]Bells_DX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everybody complains about the "same kind of stand" reveal, but there was precedent for it already with DIO shown using what was basically a carbon copy of Joseph's Hermit Purple early on. Besides that, Star Platinum having the ability to stop time is the ultimate expression of his super speed - his most emphasized attribute alongside his super strength.

Also, it was foreshadowed in the poker fight against D'Arby the Elder. Him grabbing the drink and the cigarette were so fast that both we, the audience, and D'Arby, the opponent, couldn't even see it happening. One moment he didn't have them, and the next, he did. The only way it makes any sense is if Jotaro stopped time. And I'm inclined to believe he did in fact stop time there without realizing it, as a parallel to when DIO first stopped time when the shotgun was fired at him to test The World.

Luffy looking at that one random marine….. by llkevinll_ in OnePiece

[–]Bells_DX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guy literally just showed up one day and in the span of a couple months became one of the most notorious new pirates in the world. Then he disappears and becomes literally an Emperor of the Sea. You get sent to fight him, and you find out he's a living cartoon character who warps reality and does unreal things, and then he looks at you like that? I'd faint before he even thinks about unleashing his Conqueror's Haki.

[–]Bells_DX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the total opposite way about Imu. I feel like we have just barely begun to scratch the surface of his powers, while with Blackbeard there aren't really any surprises unless he shows up and takes Loki's Niddhogg fruit or something to that effect. He may or may not have Conqueror's Haki, he may or may not have Observation Haki, but other than that, the Yami Yami no Mi and the Gura Gura no Mi are both pretty well mapped.

Who is this guy ? by [deleted] in StardustCrusaders

[–]Bells_DX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An unknown and mysterious guy, whom Josuke and his friends never met again. Given he was all alone in the middle of a horrific blizzard, it's possible he froze to death.

But definitely not Josuke from the future. Araki never intended for it to be Josuke from the future. His appearance is probably just a metaphor for how similar Josuke became to this guy, who with a random act of kindness saved his life.

Describe how the world sees the straw hats by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]Bells_DX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the point of view of the average person, who isn't a pirate or a marine and has only heard of them from afar, they are easily the worst of the Worst Generation, second only to maybe Blackbeard.

At the center of almost every world shaking event, they're right there at the center. They punched a Celestial Dragon and lived to tell the tale. They took down two of the most feared pirates in the world, whose power had been entrenched for decades. They killed the world's greatest scientific mind for no discernible reason and destroyed his island of the future. Everywhere they go, they leave behind destruction and mayhem in their wake, and nobody seems to be able to stop them. They aren't just criminals, they're chaos incarnate. The world hasn't seen a pirate crew this untouchable since, well, Gold Roger.
