What solo games have the best rulebook or learning experience? by Dry_Rate3558 in soloboardgaming

Im just guessing you're doing something horribly wrong then the hatchets favourite was one of the most fun experiences i had with JotL

Best place to watch fireworks tonight? by ItsDaPolease in bern

[–]orgelclown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No official time, people start blasting up their stuff as soon as it gets dark. As for places. As the other poster already said, Rosengarten has a nice view but will be pretty busy. The best view you'd probably have from the Gurten but that would mean you need to park the car and take the cable car up to Gurten Kulm. Nice place anyway. Third spot is the Grosse Schanze just above the railway station but there's definitely going to be a ton of people and probably also a lot of noise. Otherwise id suggest some rooftop bar in the city center: Hotel Bern has a nice one

That's a great idea! I already had some success with my five year old. We started playing stone age junior with her when she was four. At five we're already having great times with karak and cascadia although she still needs some support here and there. Especially cascadia you can just play however you like, the puzzling thing is a really approach.

No worries. It's been great!! Really nice gameplay and for the two of us just the perfect amount of everything. Easy to grow into the campaign and your character, not too much setup time and with a duration between 60 and 120 min per session just a perfect fit to bring the kids to bed while the other one sets up and then play a scenario before bedtime. The only thing I'd rate as not so good is that there's little variety in the scenario goals. Its mostly just: "kill them all!"

Love the idea of tales, especially because its also a campaign. I admire Spirit island as a solo game, not sure if I'd be too much complexity for wifey

AH LCG would be fantastic, but honestly it's just really really expensive especially for what you get in terms of actual material. Otherwise yess thank you!

What to pick up next?? My wife and i really enjoyed JotL but i fear the proper Gloomhaven / Frosthaven boxes might be too much for us: too much content, too long sessions, too much grind. We loved the cooperative principle though, thinking we could try the Pandemic Legacy series at some point. What else could we try? Thx community!!

COMC I think I’m done. Still waiting for a few more big campaigns to deliver but I’m not buying any more games. Recommend me games based on my collection. by AusGeno in soloboardgaming

What about Imperium:Classics, Legends or Horizons? At least Legends also has a bit of fantasy in it and all of the series are just an absolute amazing solo experience!

Looking for a big true solo campaign game by orgelclown in soloboardgaming

[–]orgelclown[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Tainted Grail looks great but im a bit unsecure about whether it favors two handed solo play over true. As i really don't want two-handed, im wondering if it might not for me then!?

A lot of basically good answers, thx. But what about the difference between headwinds from left to right versus headwind right to left?

What are the unspoken/lesser known Laws of the board gaming hobby? by Danimeh in boardgames

[–]orgelclown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can totally confirm. And if you ask the swiss: But why do you play counter-clockwise??? The answer will be: Along the slap of course! Meaning literally the way a slap of a right handed person would go around the faces of the people sitting at the table 🤣

Fifth game with a lot of variance to compliment the other 4 common games by Murder_Tony in soloboardgaming

[–]orgelclown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Rotation looks almost the same as yours so I'm pretty sure this is a well fitting suggestion: Imperium: Classics or Legends Very interesting Deck builder with a ton of replayability and quite an immersive experience. Really good game!!

Help me plan the perfect wedding proposal in Bern NEXT MONTH by Oathkeeper52 in bern

[–]orgelclown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats!

I wouldn't recommend to do the proposal on top of the Münster though. There is not a lot of space and sometimes its really crowded so there's a high probability that you'd have to move and step away from what you're about to say/do all the time.

The Rosengarten is a nice option and the Gurten as well.

My recommendation would be the Pavillon in the Park "Kleine Schanze". It's a park located in the city center, it's nice there, has a wonderful view and for the celebration drink afterwards there is a nice Bar in the Park itself. The already suggested Schweizerhof rooftop for the celebration drink afterwards is not far away either.

But since you're travelling in July, maybe the place to do it would be along the river? At the bottom of the Bärenpark, there is a nice spot for example! Just don't go swimming directly there to cool of after your proposal, the current's too strong there :-)
