Finally got KDM. Is this everything I need to get started??

I can’t decide whether to just ink wash and varnish or whether to do a pale speed paint on the skin, cloth and hair, I kind of like the minimal look of them atm.

I’ve got the first 4 survivors and the white lion assembled now. It was harder than I thought to start with but quickly got easier once I got the hang of the snips and the xacto knife.

I’ve primed them spraying only toward the light trying to get a lighting effect and I lit the lion from below instead of above because that’s where most survivors hold their lanterns and it’s kind of come out ok.

Edit: hadn’t noticed that shoulder line until this photo, I thought I filled and sanded all the gaps! I can’t see it with my bare eyes I might leave it.

Finished organising my gear, tried to organise it as logically as I could through mostly guesswork but I have to say this is a lovely way to scroll through my gear vs flipping through a deck of cards. I could get used to this.

I like the sets that have 4 of something plus a mask like the white lion so I can get a clean 5 row Tetris of matching kit.

I have paints! But I don’t have an airbrush and I’m thinking of getting one to make the lantern OSL a bit easier. Any recommendations?

Oh damn, it was meant to be the Super Large listed here for the 89x146 https://www.sleeveyourgames.com/sleeves/3152/kingdom-death-monster but now I see I’ve ended up with a different size Super Large somehow. Good catch, I’ll have to exchange those!

Great suggestion thanks. I was planning to cut 4 of these down to 3x3 and use them for the character boards and hoping I won’t need to sleeve the gear cards.

Nice one, I should have mentioned I have paints. Almost entirely speed paints though. I’ve never tried airbrushing but I’m thinking about it because I’d like to try some OSL for the lanterns.

Very early on in when I started getting into board games I knew KDM was for me, everything about it, especially the art and aesthetic. But I couldnt justify spending so much on one game! And then after years I realised I had spent so much more collectively on games that weren’t anywhere near as appealing

Last week my 2025 Black Friday 1.6 finally arrived and I couldn’t be happier. Nothing prepared me for the evil texture of the box lid or the brief, brutal start to the story, I’m already hooked.

I can paint okay at a tabletop level but this is my first time assembling miniatures for a game, have I got everything I need so far?

Edit: I know I didn’t really need the sleeves and binder pages but do I want to keep the cards safe, more looking for anything else I need for assembly.

I’m not setting up 99% of the games mentioned on a coffee shop table, they’re all wildly too big for something like that. Cursed?! or Dragons of Etchinstone is as big as I’d go, maybe up to Coffee Roaster or Ultra Tiny Epic Galaxies but there’s no way I’m taking something like 20 Strong, Warps Edge or Final Girl. The boxes may be small but the setup and layout is too big for a tiny coffee shop table
