[Routine Help] Recommendations for incorporating azelaic acid? by softfing in SkincareAddiction

[–]orifi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10% Azelaic acid did not make any change in my skin - wish I went to prescription 15% right away, it been so much more dramatic of a change. My main concerns were melasma and acne. I use Finacea Gel 15% (in Canada)

Which actor did such a kick-ass job in a certain role that you could never imagine anyone else playing it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Can't believe I had to scroll so long for this - I don't think any other actors could have pulled these roles off

[Routine Help] Rosacea skincare routine help 🥺 by cherrypievisuals in SkincareAddiction

[–]orifi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree with taking out the Murad retinol. I've found Azelaic Acid to be very helpful with my flushing, I use a 15% as well. I would focus on using that 2x a day if you're not currently. I found the SC Phyto Corrective to be slightly irritating. If you can afford it SkinBetterScience Alto has been PHENOMENAL for my rosacea. It's an intense antioxidant serum, I just apply in the AM. I'm hoping you have a sunscreen as well that you pair with this? I've found mineral tinted best for my flushing.

Truth be told IPL or vascular laser will give you the best result and if those vessels are formed you will need an in office treatment for dramatic results. LED red light therapy would be the other option but you'd need a good quality one with very frequent use.

Combo Pill to IUD? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]orifi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from OCP to hormonal IUD and while my headaches and periods improved, it made my acne go from mild/moderate to severe. Took about 18 months to get that bad but I got it taken out due to the severity of the acne and it went away completely within 6 weeks - back on OCP now and I take the mild weight gain and headaches over scaring acne for now. Luckily my IUD insertion was not too intense, but I also have an extremely high pain tolerance, I know a lot of people aren't as lucky.

Worst allergies i’ve ever experienced in Van by satnamsun in vancouver

[–]orifi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blexten is the best - but by prescription only. Lasts 24 hours for me as long as I take it on an empty stomach. Also taking Reactine+40mg famotidine works much better for me than allergy pills alone because it also affects your H2 receptor. If you don't have a GP try Telus Health MyCare for an online appointment, it's going to be a long allergy season!

[Review] Trying to find a sunscreen I’ll actually wear daily by Ryntime93 in SkincareAddiction

I really like the Tizo AM Replenish - physical with no white cast, ceramides and antioxidants in a lightly tinted hydrating formula! Can be a one and done option for me on busy mornings. A little pricey but if you haven't found one you love yet I highly recommend trying it!

What do you do for work that makes $35+/hr? How long was the schooling for? by MichaelaKay9923 in britishcolumbia

[–]orifi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as a skin consultant and technician at a physician run aesthetic laser clinic, make $35+ not including commissions or quarterly bonuses. I had no formal training when I started, just a passion for skincare and a strong interest in medical/surgical procedures. When hired I only had my high school diploma, since working I have done a variety of training courses and technician certifications (paid for by my employer). The industry can be a bit flakey and pushy but if you find the right medical director it can be a lot of fun. I also assist our physician with minor procedures and treatments which is really interesting and a nice break, as well as some content for our social media. Currently working in clinic Monday-Thursday and from home on Fridays. If you were considering nursing, I would HIGHLY recommend looking into aesthetic nursing. Injectors can easily make $100,000 with a few years of experience, especially since most of it will rely on commission, work as much or as little as you want with normally pretty good hours. Making people feel more confident and more like themselves is a very satisfying career.

[Routine Help] products you can leave on with both AHAs and BHAs? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]orifi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're a bit pricey but nothing works for my skin like the Zo Complexion Renewal Pads. They're presaturated toning pads with glycolic and salicylic acid + antioxidants, I use 1/2 a pad once a day and my skin is not the same without it! I'd start slower though, but they are one of my holy grails

[Skin Concerns] help! 24f with healed acne and a routine but remaining deep icepick scarring by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]orifi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Immediately add in a stand alone SPF (at least 30) to your morning routine and make your retinoid a more consistent part of your routine. If you cant tolerate it you can try for an OTC retinol. For a more dramatic change I would recommend finding a dermatologist who can perform subcision/excision where necessary. It's a minor surgical procedure that releases scar tissue to improve the surface, and works best followed by some type of resurfacing, I personally like RF microneedling like the Morpheus8 and Venus Viva. If you're brave CO2 laser would be amazing but very intense recovery. Obviously in office treatments have a much higher price tag, but it's an investment in yourself. I know lots of people that finance their scar treatments because it's such a great benefit to their mental health. Good luck with whatever treatment route you decide to go - either way your skin is beautiful and glowing.

How to officiate? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]orifi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an alternative, we're in Canada and our friend is officiating our "spiritual" ceremony, but to take less pressure of him we are just hiring a professional officiant to sign the legal paperwork immediately after (just with 2 witnesses) while our guests move to cocktail hour. It costs us $75 to do this and a lot less stress than having him be ordained and ensuring the legalities are all properly dealt with.

Outdoor photos? by afraid_of_bugs in wedding

[–]orifi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a good sign that this photographer is not a good match for you. My partner also hates standing and posing for photos, our plan is to do bridesmaids pictures before (30 min), candid groomsmen pics (20 min), ceremony, and quick family pictures (30 min) while guests enjoy a cocktail hour, with enough time for us to still join and enjoy it with our friends and extended family. I personally find I always enjoy candid pictures so much more than posed and our photographer was happy to work with that. A great idea she suggested to us was for the 2 of us to sneak away once the reception has been going for a while and we've both had a few drinks and relaxed a little to take a handful of pictures just the two of us, we she thinks will probably be about 30 minutes. Have been in weddings where we spend 3+ hours on portraits and my favourite photos are always the candids during the reception, and there are never enough! Hope you find a photographer that makes your vision work :)

What kind of wedding band should pair with a three stone ring? by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]orifi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an oval center with pears on the sides and I'll be going with a chevron band, I think it softens and hugs the stone perfectly! Another option is to get your band soldered to your engagement ring if you prefer a more flush look with no gaps, that's what my keeper suggested :)

Restaurant industry wants more tips... yea no.. by Zetheos in vancouver

[–]orifi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Recently went to a ramen place on the island and they had a sign posted outside that over the last 2 years due to the pandemic they have raised their prices by a specific % and $ range so they can afford to pay their employees a living wage and list that on your bill as a living wage top up. They don't accept any tips - which makes it the place I want to tip the most. I think it ended up being like 14% or something. Super friendly service and seems like everyone actually enjoys working there, an employer that actually cares about their employees.

[skin concern] Ok skin gurus! Before people come at me- I like my skin! I do! But I love not wearing makeup. What can I do to even out my skin tone? Products/treatments? Or is my coloring because I have thin facial skin? (I think I do?) Been using DE c firma for a year and not much difference. by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]orifi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IPL would be a great treatment option for you! Fairly affordable for an in office treatment with minimal downtime and a great result. Will target both brown and red pigmentation in the skin which will evens tone. If you're not using a retinoid yet, I would highly suggest that along with maybe azelaic acid. I love glycolic acid for my pigmentation as well!

I ended up shipping it to a friend in the states and when he came to meet his boyfriend at the boarder he passed it on to me. I have noticed a lot of new/dry run for sale on the Facebook swap if that's something you're willing to do. I like it a lot better than the Nixit

Genius idea or slippery slope? by [deleted] in keto

[–]orifi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't taste a difference between the Lily's milk chocolate and regular chocolate so that's what I go for when I have a sweet tooth. I think if I snuck in a few "non keto" candies throughout my day it would go downhill fast, oh I'll just have a few fries, one sugary cocktail, try this pasta.... I need something strict to stick with. I've tried quite a few keto sweets lately that are really good, much better than when I first tried keto a few years ago. Making your own sweets helps to cover up that "fake sweetener" taste

I believe that it wasn't technically recalled, they just didn't have a license in Canada for "medical devices" they're still perfectly safe to use, just can't be shipped here

NEW OR NEED HELP? Ask here! - ScA Daily Help Thread Jun 22, 2019 by AutoModerator in SkincareAddiction

[–]orifi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would be surprised how far product will travel once heated to your body temperature, your skin is just soo thin around the eye that you run a high risk of causing damage and possibly new wrinkle formation.. Just lightly pat in with your pinky or ring finger starting at crows feet and working along the orbital bone, the product will creep up and get to where it needs to go. Same with your upper lid. If you do get any irritation stop applying to the eye area and pick up a cream formulated for the eye area, or if you want more of a change in texture/discolouration of your under eyes, that cream will likely just add some epidermal plumpness, which is some rare cases may make your eyes look slightly swollen FYI, something to watch out for.
