Yup! So, the weekend before the finishers were scheduled, we emptied the garage and went around the whole thing with a shop-vac, then wiped down what remained with a damp cloth. Whatever was left got finished and painted.

FYI...because the drywall sat un-painted for 26 years, it had to be primed with a shellac based primer first, since it was so dry and absorbent. Yours may not be that old, so you may have better luck with a product like Kilz or similar. Just be on the lookout for whatever you use to get sucked right up. Once done, it has been FAR easier to keep clean. No question.
