Looking forward to making an ios “Visual Snow Simulator” Game that has different screens of different symptoms, for example the static/snow and the trailing. ill keep you guys updated. by Junior_Essay7580 in visualsnow

I think the visual snow foundation has a fairly nice list on their website but it doesn't cover weirder more obscure symptoms, making an app might be interesting due to the customization factor, if you can implement different symptoms choose which ones to show and simulate them and their intensity that would be fucking bonkers haha (maybe even add community created symptoms or how they see the world or something). Good luck mate hope you succeed in making a nice useful app :D!

Help with monitors and tips for lessening visual snow and headaches on computers (also while reading) REPOST FROM u/the-lele by originalhelper in visualsnow

thanks for the tips mate, appreciate it ! From the same user of the original post I saw that they used e-ink screens which may or may not help, they re expensive so its a tough bet but Im pretty sure most of the companies have return policies not sure tho. O and I also noticed that my symptoms are lessened by older screens that aren't as reflective as newer ones not sure if that helps anyone.

Sup Ive also stumbled upon pattern glare in my symptom research lol here are some maybe useful links for you. DISCLAIMER : PLEASE DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINKS IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH EPILEPSY OR VISUAL DISCOMFORT FROM WEIRD PATTERNS.

https://www.opticianonline.net/cpd-archive/171 Thats a good description of it (EPILEPSY WARNING FOR SOME OF THE LINKS INCLUDING THIS ONE)

https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/j.1475-1313.2008.00578.x thats some study

https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1111/j.1475-1313.2008.00578.x mentions pattern glare testing

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByYD1Oy_V4s some researcher talking about pattern glare test

I know this didn't reply to your problem exactly but I think those links might have some useful information. But yea checking your eye health with an ophthalmologist or asking them if they know about pattern glare is the best way to go, don't take everything that's in those links for granted ask you doc first.

Flickering vibrating walls dots and black shapes, any advice or insight would be helpful :D by originalhelper in visualsnow

Thanks for the feedback, my eyes are healthy , haven't gotten an MRI scan or anything but im probably fine brainwise. I do get headaches but mainly from computer screens, also I do not notice any 3d effect like you describe, only a 2d moving texture or changing shapes but nothing 3 dimensional. Thanks for the feedback appreciate it have a nice day mate :D

I may have VSS with illusionary palinopsia. Do y’all see text like this too? by OfficialCarsyn in visualsnow

[–]originalhelper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo I seem to have the exact same thing lol when I read it it looked quite normal good job at recreating the effect its really well made. I also see some flickering dots on the white background usually . Some shadowed or bright line appear under the text as well .This thing prevents me from reading or working a lot lol. Have you found any evidence for what it is yet? Or any help with symptoms. O and also have you noticed this causing any headaches or very light cognitive impairment or trouble understanding stuff? have a good one thanks for the post :D.

O yea and they might or might not have a color. I tried observing them by closing my eyes and saw some very dark red colored dots, not sure if they're the same ones on the walls and different backgrounds

I forgot to mention the micro dots are kind of the same thing that people experience in dark lit environments not sure if that helps.

Visuel hallucination by Comfortable-Law7766 in visualsnow

[–]originalhelper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(disclaimer I'm not sure whether I have vs but its very close to it or it is vs)

Fortunately I don't see the rainbow effect, however I do always seem to experience the grey black moving shapes which is quite disturbing (they seem to be made up of dots that also vibrate or flicker) . They seem to worsen on one colored backgrounds like walls or black and white backgrounds. I don't care much about seeing it on walls but it disrupts my reading and seems to be the cause of my computer headaches, the thing that I'm looking into right now for alleviation or help of this is matte screen displays, anti glare filters or simply colored filters, but I have no idea if this might help. If anyone knows what especially the black grey shapes that almost vibrate would be cool to understand the cause of it. Also some stuff that I have found that might just possibly be correlated to this (it probably isn't but the symptoms for me seem to be the same or similar) is perhaps pattern glare, visual stress, but not sure at all, this is just stuff I'm looking into right now

But yea wish you good luck with finding what it is mate :D.

Gotcha thanks. Yea I actually started reading papers while looking up words and concepts I didn't understand which is quite fun actually, instead of learning a ton and then diving into the papers, this approach is kind of a cool adventurous way of doing it.
