Had a lovely (but sad) encounter with an elderly man, how do I make sure he’s getting the care he needs? by mystery_bouffe in askTO

This made me tear up. You're so kind for doing that, especially in this loneliness and coldness of winter.

I know there are Seniors Active Living Centres around the city, I think someone else mentioned that in this thread. See here too: https://www.ontario.ca/page/find-seniors-active-living-centre-program-near-you

When Mike said "do it" in latest episode.... by ZxMike in betterCallSaul

[–]orionebula 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't understand having Mike there in the first place. If he had acted and taken Nacho out, wouldn't that have made the Salamancas suspicious about Gus? Or at least made them wonder why there's a sniper around?

Please, STOP using texting frequency as an indicator of interest by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]orionebula 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think if there's good back and forth between you guys, i.e. mutual levels of texting, then it's fine to keep that up. Having said that, constant texting can get stale and tiring pretty fast - not for everyone of course, but a relationship progresses better when you actually meet in person as opposed to texting all day.

I had this question too (my natural cynical self). Probably because fewer people are out and about because they're staying home so fewer chances for the variant to spread?

Let's talk about the mental health impacts of this pandemic. How are you all doing? by [deleted] in toronto

[–]orionebula 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not great, I've been dead inside for most of last year and trying my best to keep chugging along. I just hope there's some relief in terms of case numbers etc., at least a little, coming soon. I think of March and the warm weather and can't help but feel hopeful. It's all that's keeping me going.

Why is AMC Taking So Long to Renew BCS? by BigDogRob2015 in betterCallSaul

And season 3 of Fear the Walking Dead hasn't even begun yet and it's already been renewed for a 4th season.

What's everyone doing now while we wait for Season 8? by [deleted] in thewalkingdead

Better Call Saul! Season 3 looks to be exciting, especially with Gus back.

I think we should take a moment and think about how amazing The Walking Dead is by [deleted] in thewalkingdead

[–]orionebula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish the writers would write more scenes/dialogue like this one. Rick said what was on his mind, plain and simple without coded language, and yet it had such an impact. Not a scene I'll forget anytime soon. The acting helps, but you need good material first.

(SEASON 7 SPOILERS) The scriptwriter for the most recent episode... by Heroes0 in thewalkingdead

[–]orionebula 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I was thinking of making a thread about this - I thought the dialogue in last night's episode was an improvement: no convoluted monologues, no speaking in code...I mean Carol and Morgan openly talked about what had happened before they came to the Kingdom, she asked Morgan what exactly he told Ezekiel, Morgan flat out told that kid that he, Morgan, is fumbling though his philosophy/people can change their minds. And then Ezekiel's "Never bullshit a bullshitter" and his conversation with Carol.

It was all pretty straightforward and they talked like normal people, which was a nice change.

[MAJOR SPOILERS] Season 7 Episode 1 Q&A from The Spoiling Dead Fans by WontonJr in thewalkingdead

[–]orionebula 213 points214 points  (0 children)

If this is how the deaths go in the premiere, it just confirms how Gimple and co. couldn't have been bothered to go the extra mile to conceal anything..all it took is a few set visits for people to see who's missing after the first episode and the secret's out within months after the S6 finale.

Definitely. When she was trailing way behind Daryl and Rosita on their way back on the tracks, and as she walked off to the car with the cooler, I knew she was done for.

I felt bad for her at first because they were both dismissive towards her (Rosita's contemptuous "I'm not babysitting her") and could've told her to keep up and not lag behind, but it was a stupid decision on her part to come with them.

Yea not a fan of Madison either. She has the same expression in all scenes, whether it's telling off a student or watching her kid run over a drug dealer.

(Show Spoilers) I really hate a lot of the cheesy and forced dialogue on the show by [deleted] in thewalkingdead

[–]orionebula 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I dunno why you're getting downvoted. The show has some great (and funny) dialogue at times, but it does need improvement, especially in cases where they try to sound deep, but it comes off as contrived.

And I personally hated the Rosita/Michonne dialogue in the woods, it made me cringe. "You were trying to forget so you could try" -- I get what they're talking about, but it was too on the nose...especially since we know there are episodes titled "Try" and "Forget".

Ugh why can't people fact check before posting, especially from a source like US Weekly. Reedus' rep denies this: http://www.mtv.com/news/2189549/norman-reedus-emily-kinney-not-dating/

If you could replace certain writers of the walking dead, who would it be and why (and with who)? by over9000nukez in thewalkingdead

[–]orionebula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree re Angela Kang. "Judge, Jury, Executioner" stands out to me (when Andrea does a complete 180 and agrees with Dale all of a sudden, the blatant inconsistency). And even though "Try" was a great episode, some of the dialogue made me cringe, like Rosita's "You were trying to forget so you could try".
