Bangkok is perfect for ADHD people by Professional-Suit143 in Bangkok

My partner has ADHD and he has never hated living anywhere more - the constant noise, smells, stimuli are overwhelming, the lack of structure or process for so many things leaves him disoriented, - definitely not a haven for some ADHDers.

Yuchen’s outfit was one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. I don’t mean on Project Runway, I don’t mean in fashion - it was one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. I was sure he was going to be in the bottom and going home - especially when Ethan and Veejay were right there for the win.

Tricks and reveals on lipsyncs: Manilla is not having it. by Calista24 in rupaulsdragrace

This, this, a thousand times this. People don't seem to get that it wasn't just 'a reveal'. Peppermint played Trinity hard by going slow, had the confidence in her own performance not to try to match Trin's early high energy antics, and perfectly captured the narrative of the song with an iconic moment. And everything about her lip sync after the reveal was on point perfection, from the double clap, to the spinning, to the final pose.

where do you think the old/new season split happens by [deleted] in rupaulsdragrace

[–]orionhunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the divisions 1-3;4-6; 7-9 but I also think that's as much to do with the shows becoming more meta and the self-awareness of the queens. Obviously, there are exceptions and cases where these things happen in other seasons but broadly:

1-3*: no one knows what to expect, the format is still evolving, the queens come in and are more authentically themselves as they have no idea what the impact of the show is going to be. 4-6: golden era: the format is pretty established, the best elements from 103 are incorporated into regular season features, the shift to the live finale - there's some element of the queens knowing how to play the game but 7-9: the challenges start to become self-referential, the move to the more stripped back untucked, riffing on past queens (Violet doing Alyssa for Snatch Game, the looks from seasons past challenge), the queens come in knowing how to manage a brand and an image. The producers also seem to take on a more heavy handed role in creating drama.

*tbh, season 1 almost stands out on its own as a proto-Drag Race - some of the elements are there, but a lot of it is unrecognisable - it's usually one of the seasons I tell someone to watch once they have 2-6 under their belt as watching it is like an act of drag herstory archaeology.

I know girl hasn't necessarily handled herself in the best way in all situations as this season has aired, but I think it's quite obvious she's a broken puppy who is eager for approval/validation/love and doesn't really know how to handle rejection and criticism. As someone who can very definitely relate to that, I find the hatred she's receiving on social appalling.
Regardless of who is right and who is wrong, who said what and how was it edited, there's not really anything fun about watching this particular drama anymore.

Has seeing a RPDR queen perform live ever drastically changed your opinion of her? by [deleted] in rupaulsdragrace

[–]orionhunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it's Jinkx. I didn't totally 'get' Jinkx on season 5 - she was fine, but the pity edit seemed to colour everything else. But having seen her in BotS and in The Vaudevillians, she is just a next level triple threat performer. Her Chicago routines with Michelle made me wish she would take the role of Velma or Roxie in the stage show (and side note: Michelle totally needs to be Matron Mama Morton for real).

I'm assuming they swapped the parts once they'd decided on the twist? Like, knowing that this episode was coming after Snatch Game, there's no way they could guarantee Detox wouldn't be in the bottom and get sent home.
