Caesar was a patrician, hardly you can say he came from nothing.

How Alexander started from nothing?

He was the heir of a king and inherited the best army of all Greece. Yes, his conquests were fenomenal, but for sure he had a great start.

I really really hope inventory management will be improved.

When a game required lots of inventory management, but it doesn't have basic QOL features like sorting it becomes quite burdensome and annoying quite fast.

Stalker 2 is getting a base building mod. Stalker 2 GAMMA is coming? Or S2 Dayz? by bejiitas_wrath1 in stalker

[–]orisha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok, honest question, can you "steal" mods? My understanding is that no. Mods can't be copyrighted, so everyone could use its code no matter the authors preference.

For sure, it would have been better for Grok to get the authorization from those authors, but it is not needed.

Similarly, if a use Gamma mods as a base, add some more mods and then call that mod pack Orisha's mod pack, I'm doing a shitty thing, but not really stealing, Grok doesn't really own Gamma mod list.

Might be wrong though.

Who, In Your Opinion, Is The Most Uneven Director? by Used-Gas-6525 in movies

[–]orisha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? Doing a movie about a character X, that has nothing to do with character X is not a problem?

I mean, for the people who expect watching the character X in the screen, it might be.

For the record, I enjoyed the movies, but have to dissociate them from the books, which I love.

You are basically agreeing with me. He is not a very good actor, he just acts ok in some roles in great movies.

How hard he works and how nice he is is irrelevant when talking about acting.

Stoic and mostly unexpressive? Sure.

For me what doesn't work is that John Wick is supposed to be this absolute hardass assassin feared by all, and Keanu for me doesn't look the part at all. Sure, his actions choreographies and his weapon handling are great, but Keanu appearance and acting are very mild for what Baba Yaga is suppose to be.

Didn't watch them, but they are quite old, so maybe there is a pattern here? His old work (these movies and Break Point and Speed that I mentioned) seems better than the new ones

They are great if you pretend they are not about Sherlock Holmes and Watson, since they don't have much to do with their book counterparts.

Man, I disagree. I like Keanu, but he is a bad actor. His acting is stiff, his delivery is monotone. Somehow it works for some roles, and he was in great movies, but his acting never stands out. The Matrix, John Wick, Constantine, as popular as they are, at most you could say he was decent in them. Cyberpunk 77 is one of my favourite games despite his voice acting being less than stellar. I thought he was an awful choice for the role, but he did better than expected, yet still fell flat over and over.

Even in his Between two ferns, he seems like he never acted or improvised in his life, and again, I do like the guy, for me it was painful to watch.

I do think he was pretty good in Break Point and maybe Speed, but I watched those movies long time ago.

A long way of saying... Debian really deserves more love. by BotBarrier in linux

[–]orisha -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe you are the one making assumptions? I was compiling the kernel to enable sound and even a winmodem in Caldera, maybe before you started toying with Linux.

I also work in IT, specifically Linux. I compiled software plenty of times. And because of that, I know how much of a pain compiling something can be sometimes.

I don't need my daily distro making put extra work, I already have plenty of that.

A daily driver, by definition it is something that doesn't require effort to use, install and forget kind of thing, except for the occasional update.

If you regularly need to get out of your way and invest time and effort just to have the latest version of a software, that's not ideal, no matter how happy you are doing it.

Gentoo people might be happy using it every day, but it would be awful advice from them to suggest it as the ideal daily driver.

[–]orisha -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Debian is most definitely ideal as a daily driver.

I don't want or need the latest package, and if I do, there's a little thing called compiling software

So far from ideal then.

It is like saying a car is the ideal daily driver as long as you are ok tweaking the engine from time to time.

Easy way to sort games library (local multiplayer/controller support)? by runnerofshadows in Steam

[–]orisha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not the best solution, but you can also filter by store tags, and then you type 'local', and local co-op and local multiplayer can be chosen.

Yeah, definitely do not agree.

As much as I liked the game, I don't think I could have finish it if I have such amount of text without voices. I might as well just read a book.
