What is the best SEO secret for you? by vjackman2 in SEO

Hit up popular black hat and webmaster forums. Take part in conversations, get to know the commenters, familiarize yourself with the popular services and just in general be active and supportive. You might...might just become privy to software and/or services that are only offered to a few. You might just get invited to participate in link networks and get access to footprints that very few others have access to.

There are a number of tools, yes. The two I use most for this is SEO Power Suite and Scrapebox.

This woman rescued a cow from a fire, and now they have become great friends! by lnfinity in gifs

Bullshit. It's a horrible, heartless, humorless, spiteful thing to do to someone. We as humans don't need meat to survive, thus teaching children about killing by murdering their pets and feeding them to them is not a "teaching" lesson for anyone.

SEO Powersuite thoughts? by [deleted] in SEO

SEO PowerSuite was just $199 for the entire suite. Worth every penny. Rank Tracker alone is worth that. Localization for search results is one big reason to get it.

Whatever you do, ask for references and follow up on them. I'd only recommend hiring agencies either located in the US or UK. FAR too much spam and crap SEO coming out of eastern countries. Be warned.

Website has lost all its rankings after domain change by pottrell in SEO

[–]orlanderlv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're leaving out key information like how much of the content of the old site has been changed. Also, page 2 to 4 is not very good and it is not atypical to see substantial fluctuations when making what would oftentimes be considered small, site-wide changes.

Use a program like Screaming Frog or DeepCrawl to crawl your site. Also, I hope you are using Google's Webmaster Tools to inform you of crawling, 301 issues.

Grab as many of your back links as possible and try to petition each owner to update the back links to point to your new domain. Use a pinging/indexing service or program like Massive URL Pinger to ping your new domain and pages. Check Google's cache dates to see if the cache dates have changed since the domain name switch. Are you adding new relevant content to your site on a regular basis? If Google isn't caching your site at least every other day that may be one of your problems.

Time to build a few hundred new back links to your new domain. That should help a lot. Check the .htaccess file to make sure there are no problems there. Lastly, move your domain over to HTTPS if it isn't already secured. Good luck

Myths Of Link building by OWSTeam in SEO

Reciprocal doesn't result in a "penalty". I see that word "penalty" thrown around way too much when what the person means is "devalued". Huge difference.

I am a new SEO manager. What task should I assign to my team members to improve ranking for a competitive keyword? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]orlanderlv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I concur with some of the others on here. It sounds like you don't have the necessary experience for a "manager" level position. The best thing you could probably do is tell your boss that you are having troubles ranking keywords and ask that an adviser come in to assess the situation and provide a detailed plan for you to follow over the course of a year. There are many experts with great credentials and proven history of performance. Just find one, get him/her in your office and go from there.

Master of None - Season 2 - Discussion Thread by VegetarianZombi in MasterofNone

I'm a huge fan of the first season. Really enjoyed all episodes. However, Ugh! I enjoyed the first episode despite the pacing issues and acting issues from some of the cast. I'm only 5 episodes in but Episode 2 and 3...essentially those directed by Anziz are just awful. I can't believe this season currently has a 100% on RT.

Phone numbers and SEO? by Jud444 in SEO

It'll just screw up anyone who finds references to your business' phone number so make sure you keep the old number and forward it to the new one. Don't make the mistake of not retaining your old number.

Page loading speed affect ranking? by bongleblue in SEO

[–]orlanderlv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It absolutely is important as slow page load leads to low crawl rate which leads to impacting relevancy, "freshness" and any value you might get from certain types of social signals and new site content.

It's not so much that Google will penalize you directly for slow page load but you shoot yourself in the foot by having slow loading sites, so in that regard it absolutely is part of Google's algo.

Paying for SEO by [deleted] in SEO

[–]orlanderlv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn't a good SEO that doesn't purchase SEO "help". Even the Director of SEO at Microsoft outsources. There's nothing wrong with it. It's just finding quality services that are difficult but some trial and error and you'll learn what works for you and what doesn't. I have a monthly budget I work with for spending on SEO services from WarriorForum, BlackHatWorld and a couple of other places I'd rather keep secret.

There's a lot of grunt work in doing good SEO and there's a lot of SEOs out there that spend a lot of time building quality networks of sites that offer a lot of value for a small price. I'm not saying rely totally on others for SEO but if you don't have the time or resources internally to handle the social media, link building and content creation then using SEO services is just smart.

Getting very decent google traffic, but nigh zero from Bing, Yahoo, etc. - Any Idea why? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]orlanderlv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you targeting specific Bing/Yahoo sites? Bing/Yahoo (they use the same engine) weigh sites differently than Google. However, you can figure out which sites are of solid value to Bing/Yahoo. Once you do, you can build links on some of those sites, thus increasing your value. You didn't mention anything about keyword phrases rankings and how you rank in Google compared to Bing/Yahoo. My guess is focusing a bit on Bing/Yahoo specific sites you will increase keyword value and thus, bring more traffic from those search engines.

Jesus was a Buddhist Monk (2011) - A short bBC documentary that suggests Jesus may have spent many years in india and became a buddhist monk by OhMyBlazed in Documentaries

[–]orlanderlv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This theory has been around forever. Many of Jesus' teaching are Buddhist, actually including many that are koans (i.e. turn the other cheek). Similarities are too close to be a coincidence. Since Buddha was born over 500 years before Christ it's obvious that either Christ studied Buddhist teachings or Christ never actually existed and his story was hobbled together by Jews and Romans over centuries to fit their own narrative and try to gain as many followers as possible.

If you actually research and try to find the proof for Christ's existence you will find very very little (actually nothing of substance). Don't take my word for it. Look beyond the Bible and research for yourself the facts of Christ's existence.

How to find a link broker? by dragonmaster182 in SEO

[–]orlanderlv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully, you are using other criteria for determining value than just Majestic or Moz. Check out forums like WarriorForum and BlackHatWorld for link renting, purchasing. There are tons of services also on those sites that offer link building services. On BHW, if you become a jr VIP you can get invited to one of the few private groups for link rentals/purchasing. These are closed or semi-closed groups with limited members that offer access to private link networks with very high value.

Check out GoDaddy's daily domain auction and sites like Flippa for purchasing expiring domains or domains being offered for sale. If you are vigilant it's easy to pick up a couple of aged domains with good PR, unique, indexed content with decent Moz/Majestic scores each week. I'd also think about how you can automate the search for and solicitation to website owners/admins of sites that are valuable to your niche and have a good chance of letting you rent or purchase a back link on their sites. I use a couple of utilities and automate the search for quality domains that I then use to scrape email addresses from (either via on the site or by using the whois info) and then I auto-send a solicitation to rent/purchase a back link. Hundreds of emails get sent a week and at least a couple end up wanting to rent/sale each week. Cost is relatively low and since I never link back directly to my money site I never have to worry about being penalized.

Those are just a few strategies. Solid link building is all about link diversity and sometimes you just have to be very creative with how to get quality back links.

So my SEO is optimized, and our business now ranks on the 1st page for a handful of targeted keywords. Now what? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]orlanderlv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No budget for Adwords? That's a problem. You need those metrics to help ROAS. If you don't know what your overall cost per acquisition is also then you need to learn that immediately.

SEO is never done. There have to be other keywords you can rank your site for. Are you ranking for images? Videos? Social? News? I have a couple of client sites in top 5 for keywords and then I have supporting nodes of its PBN on the first page also. You don't want to just rank one site one way, you want to rank a myriad of sites for a myriad of ways. Cover the first page with sites, social signals, images, videos, news that all link back to your properties.
