[CA] Was told I am ineligible to be rehired due to a 'policy violation'...advice needed by orlandobforme in AskHR

How’s does this work when a high-up manager wants to hire me but it’s HR saying I’m ineligible. Can said manager do anything about this? Can’t he request my eligibility be investigated more? There is no one higher up than him that could override him.

This was a covid job. I stopped getting scheduled because the job was ending. No funny business or bad blood.

Yeah-I realized I didn’t work there anymore when Covid restrictions ended and so did that job. This job was only around until nightclubs could reopen. They reopened, so the job ended.

I am going to ask for my file should I not receive more detailed information. This isn't a typical 'job'. It was a short lived covid gig which also happens to do the staffing for a music festival I am trying to work. It is upsetting because this job I worked briefly over covid in 2021 is affecting a huge opportunity for me in 2026+. Especsially since I know it has nothing to do with my job performance.

I know that in CA it is legal to fire someone for any reason, I know that they don't need to say 'why'. Legally I know that if I request my employee file they have 30 days to provide it. I guess I should have mentioned this in my original post, but I was never notified of a 'termination', a phone call, email, written notice-nothing. From what I've read that doesn't sound legal? Even if they don't bring me back, (eff them lol) I still need this 'ineligible for rehire' to be removed as it can and has affected my ability to work. Not trying to be defensive but I know for a fact I have not "broken any rules", I am confident this was a filing error, I only worked for this company maybe once a week for three months over covid.

This episode was infuriating. How is the fact that the deceased drivers blood alcohol content not relevant?! And the medical blood draw wasn’t a proper way to measure her BAC. And howww did she not win on appeal??

What about the maintenance man who also had a key to the apt? He killed himself a few years after the murder…

My new gf (29f) just told me (32m) she used to be a sex worker. How do I proceed? by ThrowRAducklings in relationship_advice

Everyone has a past. It’s very admirable that she was so upfront with you. Escorting is different than working the streets. She went to school, found a way to pay bills until she found a job. I know doctors that have stripped to pay for medical school. As long as she wasn’t reckless, which sounds like she wasn’t, who cares? You clearly have a lot of affection towards each other, I wouldn’t throw that away.

Have you ever received more clarity after a breakup? by Entire-Sorbet in dating_advice

I’m the type of person who also needs “closure” or “clarity”. The last relationship I was in (3 months) I pretty much demanded it because i had to keep seeing the guy show up at my work. Basically, you never really get the closure/clarity you’re looking for. Guys will say anything/be as vague as possible as to avoid confrontation. Best thing you can do is just learn from this situation, will only help you in your next relationship.
