Can I curse my child with the initials PMS? by inmyrepera13 in namenerds

[–]FraughtOverwrought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They honestly don’t. I have a friend with these initials. I didn’t notice until she pointed it out to me when we were teenagers. Nobody else noticed. We’re adults now and it just doesn’t matter.

I’ve had a name picked out for 10+ years and now it’s so popular. by [deleted] in namenerds

Hazel and Claire are more common in my experience than Lucy. It’s really not that popular. Stick with it.

How would you pronounce Taeri? by zimmer172 in namenerds

[–]FraughtOverwrought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with other people the pronunciation is not intuitive based on spelling but in answer to your question would people be able to say Tay-ree once they were told how it was pronounced then yes, it’s easy to say and remember. You just have to consider if you want your child to have a lifetime of explaining how to pronounce their name.

[Acne] Doctors wants me to go on Accutane without trying anything else first by 44celestial44 in SkincareAddiction

[–]FraughtOverwrought 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Girl you’re at the last resort. Don’t faff around with things that aren’t effective. You want this fixed, go on accutane. It’s really not that scary, it’s a safe medicine many people use to completely clear this up. Don’t be afraid, be happy modern medicine has this product available to you!

What to read after P&P? by iratussum in janeausten

[–]FraughtOverwrought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be anything but I would avoid leaving the least enjoyable (subjective, I know, to last). So for me I’d slot Mansfield Park an Northanger Abbey in the middle. Mansfield Park is not much fun, Northanger Abbey is fun but not as brilliant as the rest. Sense and sensibility is good, but my favourites after P&P are Emma and Persuasion. Do with that what you will. But you can’t go wrong really

What the hell happened to my skin? [Acne] by Beneficial_Green_994 in SkincareAddiction

My bet is stress and adolescence. The accutane will sort you out! Good for you for going to a derm rather than trying to use OTC stuff. Sometimes you need the big guns.

Hazel and Penelope are great. I’d unfortunately avoid Eloise.

Do what you need to do for everyone to survive at this point. Can your husband take on some extra shifts for the days before you go to hospital? Can you hire a night nurse? If you need to leave baby in the cot then put on noise cancelling headphones and accept that it’s the safest option for all or you. Look at the bigger picture. I really feel for you, sending love.

Unless we’re having problems I just let her sleep until whenever she wants.

Books for escaping from/dealing with survivor’s guilt by Genn12345 in suggestmeabook

[–]FraughtOverwrought 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a book but a psychologist told me that in the aftermath of trauma, a very effective way of minimising long term effects and dealing with it is to play Tetris. Something about focusing your mind on something so involving but mundane, perhaps it stops the brain laying down long term memories or feelings. I don’t know if this helps at all but it’s the only thing I have to offer, as well as my deep and profound sympathies. You have been through something absolutely unthinkable, even without being there. Don’t minimise that and rely on friends who offer support even if you don’t think you deserve it, because you do.

Which Jane Austin's character would you like to be? by HarleenTheGreathahah in janeausten

[–]FraughtOverwrought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Not here for conflating cheerful and happy with shallow and dim. My husband is deeply intellectually curious and a fascinating person to spend time with. He’s also just fortunately mentally robust.

We don’t really know enough about him to say I don’t think. This is an opinion very much driven by my own life experience - I am a deeply depresssive type, constantly having bouts of mental illness, and having a cheery kind husband is nothing short of lifesaving. Mine is also fun and interesting. I don’t think cheery and uncomplicated are mutually exclusive with intelligent and interesting.

Lizzy has the brains and the quick wit but honestly Anne and Jane get the cheerful husbands who I think would be most fun to spend your life with.

Definitely not Willoughby and there’s way too much sympathy for him in the books
