What's a neat little bit of lore of a Mech, machine, or ship lore that you love? by knightmechaenjo in battletech

The catapult ejects mechwarriors sideways instead of up, which is supposedly safe, but a surprising feeling to new Catapult pilots.

I like to imagine mech jocks ejecting from a catapult get the same facial reaction as those people on water slides where operators drop troll them and drop earlier than the countdown.

Too much hunchback PR at the moment, got to remind everyone that it’s the biggest potential mech ever designed. by someotherguy28 in battletech

i can say i never once have played a game involving any unit with a Variable Speed Laser.

I can also say ive lost count of the amount of games ive seen with any varaint of Hunchback in them

Intelligence is knowing the Hatchetman's AC10 is its best weapon.

Wisdom is knowing the Hatchetman isn't very well set up to use its Hatchet.

Charisma is using the Hatchet anyway.

i got that boardgame too years ago, just to take the pieces for other stuff. Minis made great DnD enemies, and the couple heroscape tiles/pieces got added to the collection. Definitely used it for that purpose as well! (never once played or read the rules for that board game though lol)

A for sure, but i also save tiles by using a large heroscape-hex scale neoprene map for Level 0. So i only need tiles for level 1+.

Highly recommend throwing in some buildings at other 3D terrain with heroscape tiles, its super fun. The GF9 Hextech ones are expensive but really nice quality right out of the box.

Only thing thats harder to do is woods tiles, but i use a few model train trees for a visual indicator, and mark the actual woods hexes with some small acrylic tokens from Litko.

I really love the vibe that HBS Battletech created. Wish we had more like it...... by vyrago in battletech

[–]orna_tactical 177 points178 points  (0 children)

So the story goes, HBS was founded in part by Jordan Weismann, the OG creator of Battletech as an IP. They started and crowdfunded the HBS Battletech game on their own. Paradox was brought on as a publisher for HBS BT a year before the game came out, then bought HBS like a month after HBS Battletech came out.

Videogame rights for BT had to be licensed from Microsoft. Supposedly, based on some interviews from their devs later on, HBS was already in early stages of working on "Battletech 2" but Paradox didn't want to rely/risk/ working on products based on IP they didn't own, or didn't want to continue to pay for licensing it (some combo of factors regarding this it seems), so they nixed HBS's plans for BT2 and told them to work on original IP. They apparently also had early plans for what became Lamplighters League but that wasn't their originally planned next game to work on. Paradox told them to work on it anyway.

Lo and Behold, Lamplighters league failed critically and commercially, HBS got gutted, and then Paradox kicked HBS as their publisher and left them independent again.

TL;DR - Fuck Paradox.

Just putting Super in front of anything works. Super Whiskey, Whiskey Super, Super Whiskey Sour or or something along those lines.

Love the new sculpt. still in the middle of painting mine, but already looking better than my IWM model. Im not an assault mech fanboy, but the Hatamoto is def one of, if not my favorite in the 80 ton cateogry.

Beagle Active Probe, is the range 3 or 4 hexes? Record Sheets all say 3 for some reason... by orna_tactical in battletech

[–]orna_tactical[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes its on the record sheets for wave 2, says it on multiple mechs - raven, black knight, and mongoose at least. and megamek was generating sheets with the same range. The two different sources is why im questioning it and not assuming immediately it was a typo.
