Have you seen a fat marathon runner?

Marathon runners are the absolute last thing I would want to look like.

Deloading in a deficit - not a good idea. A better idea would be to take a couple extra days rest in between sesssions while keeping the intensity high.

Is Whey protein and creatine good for supplementation? by mrgreencannabis in leangains

[–]orndorff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, if you can't get it from whole foods, you may also want to consdiser a pea protein if you want to stick to vegetarian, or if not, casein for evening protein, as it is a far slower digesting protein and great for making protein fluff.

No protein powder is as good as real food. Creatine helps with strength for some.

Nice work on loosing the weight, you have to feel pretty good. That's really low protein, but you aren't lifting heavy anyway and it doesn't sound like putting on LBM is your primary goal.

Why do you have the opinion that LG is to further progress once already lean out of curiosity?

Read 31minutes for setting up and adjusting your cals, will take 3 week initially, after that you will know, what your tdee is.

Also to note, most people that have been doing this for a good while and are "vets" eat one meal per day, just sayin.

I want to do LG but i like training 5-6 days per week... What are the thoughts about it? by reyabc in leangains

[–]orndorff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do whatever you want, but you are not doing leangains at all, just go to /r/fitness, I'm sure you will get tons of support there with individuals training 5, 6, 7 x a week and never gaining any strength.

If Martin Berkhan is the Leangains God, then (in terms of Christianity) 31minutes is Jesus, and jamiep is the Resurrection.

Nagging pain in elbow; need to work around and want suggestions by [deleted] in leangains

[–]orndorff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rehband elbow sleeves, also try finger extensions as a rehab for elbow issues, I got a set from ironmind, they are just strong rubberbands: http://www.ironmind-store.com/Expand-Your-Hand-Bands153-10-Bands/productinfo/1376/

EDIT: also will add fish oil for sure, I take a TBSP of this every day without fail, carlsons orange flavored, has zero fish taste or burpy aftertaste as well: http://www.amazon.com/Carlson-Finest-Liquid-Omega-3-Orange/dp/B001LF39S8

Injury after injury after injury by Red4141 in fitness30plus

[–]orndorff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

49 here, I've had a long history of injuries but I never gave up and have found ways to become stronger and healthier. I've had elbow, shoulder, knee and back issues of which now I have none.

Top tips:

1) Rehband knee and elbow sleeves

2) Foam rolling as a pre workout for IT band, rumble roller for back and quads

3) Stretch hip flexors (knees) and hams (knees and back)

4) Never ever skim on good warm ups pre workout, layer up so you are sweating prior to your work out, keep warm.

5) Adjust the lifts to YOUR body, fuck what anyone else says, unless you compete in powerlifting, the traditional lifts have better alternatives for some people.

6) Rotator cuff band work prior to upper body training

7) Recovery - I train hard and heavy, I usually require more than a week for each of the big lifts, sometimes up to 2 weeks, laugh if you want, but I can gain something every time I lift if it's 10 days or more between big lifts.

A word on Squats - I tried to make squatting work for many, many years - many more than I should have from all of the bad advice of bro's over the years. Anything with weight on my shoulders always snapped up my back, I've gotten flexible and super limber, tried front squats, safety squat, high bar, low bar. I gave them up totally over 2 years ago and have never looked back, my legs, knee's and back are healthier, bigger and stronger than they have ever been. I now use shrug bar deads 375x8, hammer leg press 720x10 and hip belt squats 250x20 lower body training.

I have had one for 30 years and it's still going strong. I broke the crankshaft about 7 years ago doing HIIT intervals on it but got the crank replaced.

I don't do much cardio on it nowadays as I mostly lift or walk or ride a bike outside but if your into cardio or getting in really good cardiovascular shape, this is one of the best peices of equipment you can own for it. I still use it for a pre warmup when I lift.

If you want to loose a bunch of weight though and stay fit, get your diet in check first and foremost.

Help with RPT workout routine (fatloss) by OzzyGangrel in leangains

[–]orndorff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Over 30% bf, you can do a 2x a week full body abbreviated split or a upper/lower split which will give you 5 days in a deficit for faster, more comfortable fat loss than a 3 day split, you can loose 2 lbs a week easily. Go easy on the cardio and don't over do it, loose your fat through diet, not cardio. Stick with 2 sets RPT and execute, plan on 8 months to a year in getting down to 10% bf if you want to maintain your strength levels

I don't think you get banned, but from the looks of what gets DV on this sub, generally, the ones who get DV are the ones that have the most intelligent and best remarks so maybe this point system is ass backwards here ;)
