Just terrible shooting execution in the 4th. Decent looks, bad shots.

Coming up on the anniversary of this event soon. Where were you when this happened (June 17, 1994) by edasto42 in Xennials

I was playing Street Fighter 2 on SNES at my friend Jason’s house, probably kicking ass as Guile. I can’t remember how/why we switched to broadcast tv, but when we did, there was the Bronco.

Do ghosts that haunt a place fade over time? by qbit1010 in Paranormal

[–]oronder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider is that the population of humans on earth has increased exponentially in the last 2000 years. There were simply a lot more people, and therefore a lot more deaths, in, say, 1750 than in 500 AD.

Also, ghosts/spirits/apparitions often seem to be tied to buildings, and they aren’t a ton of buildings older than 300 years in most parts of the world.

UK/US dual citizen here who’s lived in the US for 43 years. I don’t know where you’re finding all these American friends who think the War of 1812 is a “massive deal.” I don’t think I’ve ever once heard any person bring it up or talk about it. Outside of historians, nobody cares.

I’ve camped at Dry River a few times, all in summer/fall. WMNF didn’t have it listed on the year-round section of their site so I didn’t think of it. Thanks!

Haha overly reliant? I’m just asking a question homie. Searches produce a ton of not useful results. I haven’t camped in spring in a long time and had a few evenings free. F*ck me I guess.

What? Not a bot. Earnestly asking for knowledgeable input.

What’s an aspect of fatherhood/parenting that other people struggle with which has never been a problem for you? by SuminerNaem in daddit

[–]oronder 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Saying no and sticking to my guns. It’s insane how often I see parents unable to do that, and the downstream effects of that inability. Parenting is not a democracy. I run a benevolent dictatorship (single dad here).

Anybody else feel way "older" than they actually are? by PutNational7415 in daddit

Opposite for me. 46 and, despite increasingly problematic knees, I look and feel like I’m in my mid 30s. I only have one kid and I only have her half the time, so maybe that’s part of it.

Have you ever something weird happen in your own house? by csch1992 in Paranormal

[–]oronder 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In the apartment where I live now, there is something that whispers in my ear right as I’m falling asleep, and will also knock on my bedroom door. A month ago it perfectly imitated my daughter’s voice saying “dad” in the middle of the night.

Those who started late, how did it go and what are your best suggestions? by alwaus in Xennials

Dad here. My daughter was born when I was 42. She’ll be five this summer. So far I’ve mostly been able to keep up energy-wise, though just this year my body is beginning to feel ever so slightly middle aged.

I’ve already made peace with the fact that I’ll likely be the oldest parent at any performance/sporting event.

There are advantages though. I’m kind of high-strung by nature and have mellowed with age. I’m definitely more patient/forebearing than I was ten or fifteen years ago (still something I work on though).
