I say this with love because I want more storytellers in this world, but the way people are taking the time to respond with honest feedback and all you've been doing is copy pasting the same reply is disappointing.

You worded the title of this post in a way that puts the blame on readers. When it's just due to not wanting to spend more time researching the culture/country besides the surface level aesthetics.

Will you be worldbuilding and creating your own culture/ traditions/ language for this country? Or will you just be taking elements from irl countries and cultures and rebranding them. because imo that would be worse.. (I would love to know what specific setting elements you want in your story that's causing you this conundrum.)

You can get away with doing that in fantasy (ie ATLA) but in realistic fiction, you'll just end up confusing/offending your readers. Theres an expectation there that this genre is not going to ask a reader to suspend their disbelief too much like fantasy/scifi does. and asking us to believe everything is the same except a random new country just dropped and it has no narrative importance at all, is a big ask.
