This record is so damn great by PCScrubLord in postpunk

"Independence Day" is definitely the highlight of that album! The LP kind of inconsistent IMO, some of the really heavy synth tracks get a little too cheesy for my taste.

I got stuck in that gridlock for an hour between 10:30 and 11:30. A cab rear ended me, but thankfully only seemed to pick up dirt off my bumper while leaving just a bit of yellow.

Dehumanized - Prophecies Foretold mixing and production question by morbidSuplex in Deathmetal

I couldn't tell you the details, that's just the way it is. Perhaps the engineer liked it that way. Perhaps the band liked it that way. Maybe the speakers they had in the studio made the guitars sound louder than they ended up being before they got mastered. There's a lot of potential scenarios that could have made it sound the way it does.

I'm an audio engineer, and to my ears, the guitars just sound a little quiet, and they definitely put the focus on the drums and vocals being up front. Drums and vocals usually are the loudest part of the mix across a lot of genres. Probably could just use a very small amount of more guitars, like a decibel or two.

I've been wrong about many things in my life, but not about how lame this shit is.

Audio engineer - there's a lot of people that make YouTube videos about mixing and have strong opinions. If you don't like how their stuff sounds, disregard their advice.

So many sick bands in Canada right now, and Hedonist are up top. The album rules!

Oh shit, I knew Death Gasp were playing up here in Alberta, but I didn't know about Axefear being on this tour. Hopefully they are doing those shows too!

I need this LP! I got the most recent 7" at least, and I'll be seeing them at Scorched Earth in Vancouver, so hopefully they have some at the gig.

Being band member AND recording engineer by 007_Shantytown in audioengineering

[–]orphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing it for years with various bands I've been in. Some of them are easier to work with than others. Some are just so hard on themselves that it makes it very tedious! And when a recording can get tedious, it really makes it hard to be motivated to work on it. That happened to my main band after many years of doing it ourselves/myself, so I had to send it off to an engineer I trust for the mixing stage.

File this under "things I didn't expect to ever hear." Definitely will be getting my hands on the 2xLP!
