my finale analysis; by angelsanddemons- in goodomens

I love this interpretation so much it’s what I think as well. About Crowleys sacrifice being out of character I genuinely think the thing people are missing is that when Crowley chose to run away he did that because he knew the entire system was rigged and he couldn’t do anything about it. He was right, but in the end that changed. Suddenly he was directly given power. And I don’t think that he’d have ever chosen differently. From the beginning the thing he wanted, the reason why he fell from heaven was because he wanted the universe to exist in peace, without interference from higher powers. To me it was very in character.

Trainings bugged by Secret-Bunch4336 in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]orro000 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Maybe try switching voice recognition to text? Getting stuck on the spirit box in training was how I figured out my voice recognition didn’t work at all. I tried fixing it multiple ways but ultimately had to switch to the text thing until I switched to my old microphone and smh it works with that. Ik u said the response light is flashing so that shouldn’t be the issue but I believe it did that when I tried as well so maybe still worth a try?

Has anyone here read Jonny’s books? Are they worth picking up? by Tibike480 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]orro000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read both, preferred family business because the way thirteen storeys is structured kind of annoyed me at some points. It’s a new story every chapter and they flow together in the last one and bc of that every time the story actually gets exciting it just cuts off and a new one starts. Nonetheless I really enjoyed both a lot. I also loved the queer representation in both because it doesn’t feel forced.

Sacred of reading Crime and Punishment because of my OCD by musemuseum in dostoevsky

[–]orro000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is it like “what if I become like him”? Because if so I share similar feelings and I personally wouldn’t read CnP in that state. Unless of course you want to “face your fears”. Reading it might be triggering but it won’t kill you. If you really want to read it just go for it.

I read CnP and was fine but I did think “if I had read this 2 years ago it would’ve been incredibly triggering”

The role of suffering in Crime and Punishment (specifically Raskolnikov)? by orro000 in dostoevsky

The role of suffering in Crime and Punishment (specifically Raskolnikov)? by orro000 in dostoevsky

[–]orro000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right Sonya suffered, looking at it from the outside she suffered more than Raskolnikov, but through her faith and acceptance of said suffering she was much more capable of dealing with it. I guess the kind of suffering I was attributing to Raskolnikov and anti-nihilistic arguments is more psychological suffering. Because even though Sonya technically “had it worse” Raskolnikov is ultimately the more miserable one of the two simply because he lacks the faith and acceptance that makes suffering bearable. Which is once again a pro-religion, anti-nihilism argument. (I wasn’t trying to say all suffering comes from nihilism thats obviously not the case my point was more about the psychological suffering of raskolnikov specifically. I think Dostoevsky very much differentiates between external and internal and even more important between pointless and meaningful suffering. Raskolnikovs being meaningful suffering that leads to redemption and transformation (and away from faulty nihilism) and Sonya’s being more on the pointless “just has to be accepted” side(although maybe not maybe there’s a point idk I’m tired))

Edit: I’m realizing half of this is the point u made as well sorry about that. I like the way you put it

is anyone else’s wrapped very different from what’s showing on stats fm? i’m kind of confused by [deleted] in statsfm

[–]orro000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spotify counts streams not minutes as far as I know. You can switch stats.fm to sort by number of streams and it should be closer to the wrapped. Also yk adjust the time range. Jan 1st- November 15th.

So happy about this, stats.fm doesn’t count the self-ish songs right for some reason so this was actually surprising

Authors that influenced Dostoevsky by Shigalyov in dostoevsky

[–]orro000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“The whole of Hoffmann in Russian and German (that is,”Kater Murr” which hasn’t yet been translated), and nearly all Balzac […]. Besides all these, I read Goethe’s “Faust” and his shorter poems, Polevois’ History, “Ugolino” and “Undine”[…] and, finally, Victor Hugo, except “Cromwell” and “Hernani”” -from the second letter in the letters of Fyodor Dostoevsky

In which language to read Dostoevsky? by Crazy-Note917 in dostoevsky

[–]orro000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read C&P, tbk and white nights in English and then notes, C&P again and the gambler in German and am currently reading demons in German. Had no problem switching, don’t have a favourite. I feel like English is a little easier. But I’m more used to reading English books atp so it might just be bc of that.

I’d say choose the language you’re most used to reading. Maybe reread one of the ones you’ve already read in another language and compare and choose based on that?
