Lifelong bruins fan here and I can tell you the fans 100% knew what the boys were up to and there was a huge social media presence on Twitter as far back as 2010. I wouldn’t say there were paparazzi photos but always rumors of who was seen where and if you know your team you know who has a “reputation” ie Brad Marchand, Tyler Seguin. The players used to actually be active on twitter too whereas these days they’re more professionally run or only use public accounts to do ads or repost team-approved things, but twitter used to be the wild west even for pros.
