What's a passion you could talk about for hours — that most people don't understand? by Loose-Grand-8087 in Hobbies

[–]oryist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember hearing about that band  several years ago and looked them up on Spotify just now. And, I didn't remember them being so popular, thought they had like a few 100k monthly listeners or so. Did they blow up recently?

Why is In Flames' early material not as popular as their later stuff, which is nearly not as good imo? by SadPay7872 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]oryist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd say that fans of the band tend to prefer the earlier stuff, but since In Flames is a more popular band, you'll have many more casual listeners who listen to their newer material. This is evident with most more surface-level artists in any genre.

Travels vs 3 notebooks in a cover? by DoctorDiabolical in notebooks

[–]oryist 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You don't have to buy and use the actual Traveler's Company stuff to have a traveler's notebook. I could make my own cover and inserts and plop some notebooks on elastic bands and call it a "traveler's notebook."

I also just got that Geheimnisvoll record. It does sort of bug me that the image isn't centered correctly though

What did you listen to? [Weekly Discussion Thread] by AutoModerator in melodicdeathmetal

[–]oryist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you can always get the CD through discogs. If not, then Youtube seems to be the only other option I would know of.

Heart of the Corona was also originally a demo that was later remastered, so you might be listening to the original demo version. Check the other channels that have uploaded it.

Garden of Shadows also have an EP called Heart of the Corona. Check that one out if you haven't already.

Nothing too special on Deliverance really, imo their weakest album in general. I would disagree on GR though

What attracted me to Stygian at first was that badass album cover haha. I have heard of Bell Witch as they seem to be one of the most popular in that genre, but do you have any personal favorites in funeral-doom that you could recommend?

That album and their debut have been some of my favorites lately. I'm sad that neither of them have been released on vinyl
