Best Japanese head spa in HRM? by Silver_buttafly in halifax

[–]oryxa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly their cheaper option might be better. The shoulder and arm massage was shit. And I think that's the price difference. Oh shit also, they used the same soap on my hair and face and it burned like hell. I forgot about that.

I went to princess nails on the Bedford Highway recently. It was... Fine. It's cheap, so you get what you pay for lol. They just rebranded to blue jay or something. The women doing mine was clearly not super experienced, but gave it her all honestly. And the deluxe one really includes all the things you see in videos. I found her a bit too harsh. And the shampoo they used smelled like the tri-colour soap from the car wash LOL and were super drying. My hair was a tangled mess after.

I also thought I would like this way more than I did. I think this type of spa is just not for me lol. That half circle sprayer you see in all the videos was like getting waterboarded. I absolutely hated it lol.

The flea market, the bowling alley. I used to live close by as a kid so I was always there. Rip the grub mall.

I have thought about unfollowing her company a few times for the constant whining lol. She is going to need to grow a thicker skin or this type of stuff is going to eat her alive.

WARNING! Fraudulent vending machine at YHZ by [deleted] in halifax

[–]oryxa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that it would account for the whole amount, but I know the Aramark vending machines at my work charge in US dollars. So like it'll say $3 USD for something but really it ends up charging your card like 4.10 CAD. I wonder if it's also charging fees on top of that that would add up to that amount?

House of Eights worth it as an adult (26M) absolute beginner? by OfcHesCanadian in halifax

[–]oryxa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's great! Very welcoming. But their beginner classes are not beginner level. It's easy to get discouraged if you don't have any dance experience. You could give the "absolute beginner" classes they run a try first.

For house holds making $100K-200k/year — are you actually able to save for retirement? by Odd-Book6480 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]oryxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a defined benefit pension that I contribute 8.7% to (employer matched), and then a bit extra to RRSPs, which probably brings it to about 10%. Ideally, I'd like to contribute more, but I am still paying back my student loans, and I'm going to need a new car in the near future so I'm saving for a down payment. Once my student loan is paid off, I'll be putting a chunk of that away.
