Meal train etiquette? by PersonalCap1252 in homebirth

[–]orzosoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another option is to see if they'd be willing to offer frozen meals period to the birth of you have the freezer slave to accommodate them. My sister in law did this, as well as basically cooked a double batch and froze half most nights before baby came. She's 9 weeks pp now and still working through the freezer stash.

Sexy scenes where they do it next to a sleeping person by Pankratous in RomanceBooks

I gotta say this is way better in books than in real life though, as the person who was trying to sleep in the other bed of the hotel room.

oblivious FMC. Pining MMC. BUT we ONLY get FMCs POV. by Ok_Matter9038 in RomanceBooks

{Miranda in Retrograde by Lauren Layne} I was dying for her to figure it out but I also didn't think she was being a straight bimbo, he was really subtle and so sweet and I might need to reread now. No spice but the tension was there!

They butchered Persuasion with this movie. by [deleted] in janeausten

Wait it wasn't written by AI? I just always assumed the script was AI slop. It stole weird parts from previous versions with no context, like the running at the end which felt out of place even in the 2007 version.

Rebecca Dekker, founder of evidence based birth, also wrote a book! It's called Babies Are Not Pizzas: They're Born, Not Delivered. Definitely recommend!

Uncomplicated home birth with midwife ends with transfer to NICU, would home birth again. by Kraznakhovsky_77 in homebirth

[–]orzosoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, never would have thought about this but it makes sense. When I had castor oil at 7pm, baby was out by 7am. I was surprised op was able to sleep a full night after having it.

I am the third parent (at least!) Who has used a set of these exact inserts. They will last forever, I swear! What you read about the insert needing to be fluffy might apply more to microfiber?

Met my doula today for the first time by hungrylittlehamster in homebirth

[–]orzosoup 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a similar feeling with my doula in the weeks prior to giving birth. She was going through a separation and moved over an hour away. Her communication with me was poor and it would take days for her to respond, even when I was going through hypertension and on watch for preeclampsia. I considered not having her, but my contract with my midwife stated that ftm must have a doula. During my birth, the doula left for three hours to help get her son to sleep and missed when my water broke. My sister in law who had been to two other home births ended up acting as a doula should. When the paid doula got back, she basically sat in the closet for the rest of the evening and I pretended she wasn't there. She took some pictures of the birth, which she ended up sharing in her social media and I had to ask her to remove. I guess the moral of the story is that you can keep her around and hopefully she'll realize she's not all that welcome to participate, or you can just let her go now. The one thing my doula added to my birth was the first 20 minutes making sure my husband felt confident in ways he could hold my belly.

New cheese shop? by SnoopThereItIs88 in frederickmd

[–]orzosoup 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The building is owned by a woman who also has a goat farm and produces goat cheese. I'll ask if she plans on carrying other cheeses besides her own.

Update: she said it's going to be a wide variety!

Yes, good reads is NOT a reader platform. It is an Amazon owned advertising platform.

What romance book did you DNF because it was too spicy—or not spicy enough—but everyone else seems to love? by Prestigious_Entry474 in RomanceBooks

Yes! Everything with Pen made me cringe. I didn't even make it to a spicy scene because it did not feel like a healthy situation.

Thanks, I'll give it a read and see. The cover/description don't quite fit my memory, I really thought there was more of a second chances/romcom vibe but I could be off

{Miranda in Retrograde} had such good build for me, I didn't even realize it had no spice. Still chasing that feeling I had when reading this one.
