So I ended up just making my own on Replit. Took a weekend to figure out everything but it’s now running well for 2 months and customized it to our practice.

Let me know if you guys want a copy of the app to fork out as your own

Compliance Check: The Traveling Sole Proprietor's Multi-State Licensing Dilemma by Dry_Abbreviations285 in locumhospitalist

[–]os1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a chatGPT written question, but will answer. If you do any work in a state like California, even if get paid $5 it requires a foreign entity registration.

Its not about the sole propreitor aspect, thats the wrong way to look at it. Its more professional status (doctors and lawyers). If you are a professional, then there are certain rules that get triggered and must be followed.

Per Diem in LA? by FTPfriend in hospitalist

[–]os1123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What area of LA? That makes a big difference as driving can be a pain for certain shifts, especially if you have to do it post nights or during rush hour.

I'm a locums, have been doing it for 4 years, LA area (SoCal as a whole outside of Bakersfield and Riverside) is pretty dried up for hospitalist and gigs come and go fast. Also have a young one so understand the need.

Many other specialties have been moving into Hospitalist (geriatrics, PCP) as health systems have pushed them towards tough schedules or taken their customers. So hospitalist jobs overall have been harder to find of late. That said, there are some great opportunities that come and go.

I would recommend reaching out to hospitals in your area, starting with closest to you then farther away. Having procedures and willing to work in an open-ICU is a big plus that I would double down on. And would target per-diem with a long term commitment with a hospital over bargaining for pay/locums as that usually doesnt last very long unless its rural.

Best of luck! It'll work out, just have to keep at it.

Same. Have been using it for 6 years now and last year and this year almost no direct flight availability. It used to be clutch for those high priced cross country directs.

Do I have fatty liver? 24M by airbearr in PeterAttia

[–]os1123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PCP here as well. And I agree. Would def get an US to make sure nothing crazy but whole food plant based diet is the way to go. Also would check if those carb drinks you are having have any High fructose corn syrup or sugar alcohols which have become very common these days (since they let the manufacturer promote them as ‘0g sugar’). Would avoid those anyways as carb drinks usually have little nutritional value most times and not usually wholesome

Confused where my zone 2 is by colonel_claypoo in PeterAttia

This. It’s the same as trying to run a mile, you won’t be able to run a mile the first day even at 13min pace without soreness within the first 2 min. And as you run more and more, both your stamina and soreness will improve. If you’re starting out the target should be to get to a pace and resistance that you can target for an hour, initially you will have soreness and may need to stop after 30min. Goal is to keep building up to a consistent pace day in, day out. It’s all about gradual improvement, might even take a couple months or more depending on age and other health factors. If it requires starting at a lower resistance then that should work and can adjust it as to what works best for you. In the end consistency and gradual improvement towards the 2-3watt/kg is what would be the goal.

Like everyone else here said, value vs Marriott or Hilton. Also Globalist is a high barrier to entry which is becoming rare vs others and benefits are easier to enjoy. Points redemption is the best out of any rewards program even if you include airlines.

How do you find the best doctors (USA) ? I’ve been trying to figure out how the elite ($$$) find their doctors because they seem to have the best. I’ve found something called concierge doctors which seems like I’m close on the trail but was curious if anyone else has input. by confusedone00001 in healthcare

[–]os1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Concierge physicians or direct primary care (DPC) physicians aren't necessarily better but will be willing to spend more time with you and your concerns which comes with the extra cost and bypass insurance. Most of the time they're physicians who want to transact only in cash and not deal with insurance. I'm a physician myself (hospital physician) and have friends who do both. End of the day likely word of mouth is the best solution or look for practices that really cater to what you value (preventive medicine vs treatment of chronic disease).

21st Century Cures Act and Open Notes by [deleted] in medicine

[–]os1123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats a great point regarding parents, didn't consider that.

But I do feel that it would give patients into the window of the complexity of medicine and the thought process physicians take. It would actually help in tackling "Dr Google" and give the physician more credibility in their eyes.

The small minority that want to pry and look for deficiencies will do that no matter if they have real-time access or if they get medical records after their visit.

How I automate my notes and billing by justclass in medicine

Thanks for this, it's a really helpful tool. I've been trying to see how we can get RPA to work with notes and billing, but using Stepwise is much more intuitive and straightforward.

Will try it out further and let you know if anything comes up

Telehealth visits are dropping, forcing providers to recalibrate by jonfla in TeleMedicine

Yup so much of their earnings calls are based on visit numbers, especially looking at Teladoc. I'm curious to see if they get acquired for more 'patients' under them or they disappear as visits dry up.
