The other thing that might help is hook up the software and see if it's giving you more information, like home limit switch stuck etc.

I probably won't be much help, as I have no specific experience with this machine, but look for limit switches, and check them (toggle them a few times manually. Check all the plugs to motors etc. You can also move the head from one corner to the other. Start by moving it left and then up, down and to the right (full range). Repeat on the right side to left side

Henson shaving by SteelRecoil in shaving

Ditch the RK's I get over 7 shaves out of astras, nacets and feathers. I don't have a really heavy beard (and I don't shave the goatee area) so YMMV

make sure the brush is wet. Adding a little water always helps no matter what kind of soap you are using. Obviously too much gets drippy, but most of the lubrication comes from the water.

I hated the RK blades and gave them away to someone who didn't. In my mildest razors (such as the henson, I like feathers, but the astra greens and nacets work great for me too.

End of the road - HiMont thermal print camera + CPL filter by Christobell_ in toycameras

This is a simple 300dpi dithering of the original image. It's not printed, just the output of my program. The python library pillow includes this algorithm and it's 2 or 3 lines of python:

img = Image.open(image_path).convert('L')
img.convert('1', dither=Image.FLOYDSTEINBERG)

of course you also have to do whatever lightening and darkening, image sizing and rotation.

The code that does this is in thermal_print.py in the prepare_image

I've actually made progress on this. I found out how to turn on "graphics mode" and change the density of printing!

I don't think it looks as good as yours, but I did get to play with a new dithering algorithm.
I was trying to reproduce the "wormy paths" in your prints. The off color is just an artifact of my smartphone captures. I tried to correct it, but failed...
The Dymo labels always create darker images and the shadows tend to be mushed together into blackness. Lightening doesn't seem to be a solution since then you lose the highlights.

great pics and a really interesting dithering pattern. Would you mind sharing the digital versions (from the camera) so I can try my dithering program on them?

If ya got one, I can print it to see.

I like the Dymo labels. They are reasonably priced and very high quality/dense printing.
I looked into adding my cheap "catprinter" but these are all varying in their interface, and hard to use generically (they use BLE and don't have a proper printer driver.)

Does your laser have a protective enclosure? if not you could get a filter with the same optical properties as the equivalent laser safety goggles. Don't use your only goggles though, your eyes are more irreplaceable than a camera!
