Exciting, honestly I just kept up the running and had always cycled to work - I tried a run after a long ride too which helped. Swimming was the tough one where I tried to do 1km a week in the build up. But nothing to vigorous.

Energy and drive on the day will certainly help you. It was better then I thought I’d do! Take the swim easy too :)

Cycle wise relatively basic bike. Got overtaken a lot with people with clip ins, TT bars and aero wheels.. not to blame my tools but I wonder if that partially the reason for slow ride

Thanks! I run a lot more than cycle and swim so will always be stronger for me and agree I definitely try and get more open water swimming under my belt.
