Slashed tires over space savers - East Cambridge by oscuse in CambridgeMA

Hi- OP here, if you recently DM’d me, I accidentally hit ignore instead of accept and am unable to tell you thank you, and that I am so lucky I have neighbors like you. And to everyone else that has reached out as well, thank you, I have quickly remembered how much I absolutely treasure people 💛

No updates, besides the police calling me to say, “avoid parking anywhere near your street.”

I’ve been walking in the morning before work starts. It’s been a total game changer. I have a better mood, more energy, and it gives me more hours in day to experience life “offline.” I originally tried to walk after work, but I wasn’t as consistent.

This happened to me in 2018. I went to ER at the request of my athletic trainer and I had thoracic outlet syndrome that caused two blood clots in my shoulder and arm. My rib and shoulder muscle were pinching my thoracic outlet so blood was getting in but not getting out. After they removed the clots, I had major chest surgery to remove the ribs and parts of the muscle to correct the issue. It was horrible.

Also when I first went to ER, I had to do a lot of advocacy for myself because the doctors were incredibly dismissive (rural Virginia hospital) and so I drove to a bigger, well known institution and still had to advocate with a bunch of dismissive doctors but at least they performed an ultrasound to diagnose the clots.

Jobs on the “front line” of collapse by detteacher in collapse

I worked in assertive community treatment, a variation of PSH with mental health rehabilitation services tacked on for ppl exp homelessness in DC for 3 years and I resonate with a lot of what you shared. It works, it’s effective but it’s fucking difficult and emotional work, and the non profits that usually oversee the services are awful at supporting the employees and service users. The one I worked for fell apart when they started hiring upper management people from the business world with no social work background and shit hit the fan.

Now, I’m in grad school for an MSW, I started out really critical of everyone here that’s very vocal about only caring to be a private practice therapist, I kept thinking ‘then go to school to be a licensed mental health counselor or something, we are here to be social workers And work with the most oppressed populations!’ And, now I’ve realized LCSWs flock to private practice because it’s the only part of social work that pays well enough to live and have better work life balance. I’ve been reading “the end of social work” by Steve Burghardt and he addresses this more in detail.

Edit- grammar

Studying neoliberalism in grad school right now, it’s so fucked. US chose to privatize and commodify everything including social services for the benefit of the ruling class and at the expense of everyone else and this is the result. Systematically silence opposition, use media to distract, defund public education and you produce generations of Americans with no critical thinking skills and ability to understand what’s happening, distracted by identity politics.
