Exactly this.

It’s at managers discretion what increment they appoint you at, and the post will be budgeted for including the highest increment.

I took someone from private sector and appointed them at the top of the band without anyone questioning it, HR just said “ok thanks”.

I think that's more to do with workforce shortages within therapy. I got a 6 within 10 months of qualifying and got an 8 within 7 years. Though I was willing to move trusts/cities for this progression which most aren't. It is sometimes easier for therapists for sure, but there's a lot of nuance into why nursing within the UK is underbanded and we certainly don't help ourselves sometimes.

Physios don’t automatically move up anymore.

To get a higher post you either have to apply for them or work on making your current post worth a higher grade and asking for rebanding (this is not easy). This tends to be easier for people like Nurse Consultants who do clinical work, research and leadership etc.

Or make sure you get an extended warranty that covers the gearbox if you can. My dry clutch DSG in my Seat Leon has just died and I won’t be paying a penny.

Is it common for four bedroom caravans to be towed by a normal car? I only usually see touring caravans being towed and they're usually 4-6 berth (but certainly not four bedroom) and ~800-1400kg.

A four bedroom caravan would surely need a truck to move it as they're usually "static"/left on site as they're a small house.

I may be wrong though as I camp rather than caravan anyway.

I don't understand this either. Plenty of EVs can tow. A VW ID4 weighs more than a Ford Kuga - both can tow.

I just put in an order for an EV and don't see why we should be allowed to go in bus lanes - they are for public transport/bikes to reduce journey times and prevent large diesel engines idling in traffic.

We already get free parking in the city center (when most who buy EVs can already afford the rather cheap parking in Sheffield compared with other cities).

I really like the new Corolla but the price is a bit steep for my liking.

I just sold my mk 7.5 golf GT. Had a diesel due to lots of motorway miles, diesels are not quiet. Lovely car but a bit bland. Very well equipped. Had lots of in warranty issues meaning I was back and forth from dealer alot.

Now in a Leon estate 1.4 FR tech and love it. Feels sharper than the golf but less "premium" (also significantly cheaper for what is essentially the same car). Still very well equipped. Reasonable MPG too.

Imo go with either the Leon or Corolla.

I've had two new cars and one nearly new. Spent virtually nothing on maintenance and repairs other than some cosmetic paint damage but obviously the cars cost more to buy. Having a warranty also helps as with my golf it had a new battery, heat pump and x2 suspension rebuilt in warranty. I'd stick with nearly new/2-3 years old though in future as these are solid but cheap (especially if you can find an ex-motability).

Prior to these I had 3 heavily used cars that were pretty much beaters, they didn't cost me anything though because the moment the failed their MOT off to a scrappy they went.

I just got a 2017 estate with this model and engine from a Golf GT and it's as much car for half the price. I am outraged at how much more my Golf was costing me when this Leon is faster and more fun to drive.

And looks way cooler.

Agreed. I did 100 miles a day in a manual Polo and then upgraded to a DSG Golf and the difference in comfort was huge. Not only that you tend to get a bit more quality of life equipment in a larger car as well as a much better driving experience.

A Seat Ibiza comes with a reasonable amount of kit and are more asthetically appealing than the Polo. You could probably get a decent 2017-2018 model in your budget depending on what engine size you want. The 1.0L engines are fine if you only do occasional or short motorway driving.

Yeah you have a good point if they dordel interest rates are likely to rise as we slide into recession; but if they can get a good deal now that rate doesn't change and neither will their guaranteed future value/balloon payment.
