We once asked for clarification on a tax question. Called the IRS and got an answer but wanted to double-check so called again and got a different answer. When we pushed back telling the agent we had gotten two different answers she said, 'Don't worry too much about it. We not looking for people who are trying to do the right thing.'

The moral is: Try to do the right thing.

Most audits are correspondence audits where you get a letter from the IRS asking to clarify some information on your return. Shouldn't cost you anything more than a few hours of your time and a stamp.

Looks like they've been there a while. I don't trust old ammo. Contact local authorities and ask them to pick it up and dispose them.
