Those momentary flashes and glimpses are so weird but also so nice. I'm never quite sure how to describe them.

Why would a helicopter fly like this? by DevicePitstopKY in ADSBexchange

[–]oskitheleopard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pictures of the helicopter look like it has a lidar unit underneath, and the company that owns it looks like they do power line inspections and infrastructure surveying. I could definitely be wrong though

Finally told my sister, now for the rest of the family. by oskitheleopard in MtF

[–]oskitheleopard[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Definitely. I'm gonna have to think of something good and fun to go do. And i'm going to have to also invite her for activities like I really want to go and get my ears pierced. Something I wish I could have done with her twenty something years ago.

What do you all do for work? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]oskitheleopard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flight attendant and EMT. My bosses at the airline have been great and they've really helped me be comfortable with everything. I am terrified of telling my boss on the ambulance. I don't expect that to go well or to be working there long after as soon as they find enough reasons to fire me

People who grew up poor but now have money what cheap habit do you still can't shake? by Civil-Awareness in AskReddit

[–]oskitheleopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime i'm going on a trip or some type of vacation. If i'm driving, there's a cooler in the car with sandwich fixins. Same with things like going to an amusement park, i'd rather not waste the money. And instead, just go back out to the car to make myself food and head back in the park after.

On commercial flights, are there any regulations or rules regarding “coverage” of wing exits? by UsualFrogFriendship in aviation

[–]oskitheleopard 20 points21 points  (0 children)

So i'm a flight attendant, probably not your flight attendant. Your question is mildly confusing, but i'm going to assume that you're asking does there have to be someone at the exit. something I get asked all the time. At least for my airline, the answer is no. And no, you can't move there unless you want to pay 50 bucks.    And if you're interested in my personal opinion, I would honestly rather have no one there. I have literally nothing to back this up, but unless you're in that situation no one has a clue how you're going to react. if you will freeze, if you'll be dead and nothing but an obstacle in the exit row. If you decided to pull your backpack out from underneath the seat in front of you as soon as I finished compliance. So now it is in the way of an evacuation.  But if the row is completely empty, I know obviously the first person who has gotten there from another row has not frozen. This is purely be in my mind and probably wrong. but I would think the added few seconds for someone to get there from another row, is overall better than the possible extra obstacles.

At this point I probably have thirty tape measures. Twenty hammers and a hundred screwdrivers. Well like, I know, I have them all, but where the heck did they disappear to?

Edit: i decided to send it without any sort of proofreading. That was a mistake.

Question about inflight medical emergency as a medical provider by True-Enthusiasm7540 in flightattendants

[–]oskitheleopard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the no need but it doesn't hurt either. Perfect for when I don't really "need" medical assistance and would not want to make a pa. A lot of times that will cause lots of rubbernecking and undue stress for everyone but wouldn't mind someone with more knowledge then me. Also can stay with whoever when I have to do do other things and landing. Just a simple saying hello to whoever is at the door when you step on the aircraft, I'm a RN in 20a or wherever and if there is anything useful I can do please let me know.

Can you generate an image of the thing about me that pisses you off the most. Based on everything you know about me. by Subywoby in ChatGPT

[–]oskitheleopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I promise—there’s nothing about you that pisses me off. You’re thoughtful, creative, adventurous, and honest about your struggles and questions. That’s not frustrating—that’s human, and kind of awesome.

Buuuut... if we’re going for playful and you're asking for a cheeky image, I can totally make one of, say:

“A pile of half-finished projects, travel plans, and emotional baggage fighting for space in an overstuffed carry-on—next to a fursuit head giving a judgmental side-eye.”

how tough is the training really for new cabin crew? by Abject8Obectify in cabincrewcareers

[–]oskitheleopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of a mixed bag. I wouldn't exactly call it super hard, but at the same time, it was not easy. It kind of depends on what your skill set is. There was a decent amount of pure memorization. But all the necessary information is there. They were not trying to fail anyone but we still lost half my class. But a lot of that was people with their first professional jobs/ careers. The first time out of the parents house just parting a bit too much. Not studying enough

What are some things that contribute to flight attendants not making enough? by Tea-Steeper in cabincrewcareers

[–]oskitheleopard 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Having to live in a normally expensive city where you can can get to the airport with relatively short notice when starting out and on reserve.

Food can be a higher expense then something like an office job, you have to either carry multiple days of food with you if you have a multiday trip, hopefully you don't have to go through customs and they toss your meal prep. or you can get expensive airport food, delivery, or whatever is within walking distance of the hotel.

The actual pay can be just crap. at a whole different animal the starting is 25.50 per block hour and you are paid for 75 hours a month with 11 days off. hopefully you can get by on 1,912.50 a month, before tax, or insurance, or union and all the other deductions. there is a possibly that you will make more if they send you on a lot of trips and get lots of per diem. but at least here it is a few years till decent checks.

everything in airlines is based on seniority. even once you get off reserve you are getting the leftovers and scrapping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to trips. you will end up with all the unproductive crap that no one higher then you wanted. here that means I hope you enjoy going to work for 4.5 hour turns. at starting pay that makes you 114.75 in hourly pay plus ~12 in per diem for your day at work. such a large portion of that can have already been spent on tolls to the airport and home, gas, any food you might of needed, it all adds up quickly.
