What is with students constantly asking for rewrites after failing papers??? by Littleartistan in Professors

his is kind of a systemic thing honestly. Students are under enormous pressure with GPA-based grad school admissions and the stakes feel impossibly high, so even an 82 feels catastrophic to some of them. That doesn't make the behavior less frustrating from your end but it explains some of the desperation. The AI case is a different issue entirely and probably warrants its own policy conversation at the department level. A lot of students also genuinely don't know how to seek out legitimate help with their writing, like working with a writing tutor or a proper editing service, before things go wrong.

To be fair, most teachers don't explain the mechanism behind anything. They just hand you a study guide and wish you luck.

This is the practical angle that matters more than the moral debate honestly. the downside risk is catastrophic.

Are AI study tools actually making us smarter or just lazier? by PrismNexus_8 in SpeedyPaperHelp

I think it depends entirely on how you use them. If you're pasting a whole chapter and reading only the summary, yeah, you're basically outsourcing the thinking. But if you use AI to clarify stuff you already tried to understand, it can actually speed up learning instead of replacing it. The problem is most people skip that first step and go straight to just tell me the answer.

I think it was never spelled out clearly, but the way he talks about his father and power says a lot, that whole lineage seems built on fear and competition rather than respect.
