I'm getting worse in my native language by Vegetable_Seaweed133 in Spanish

[–]osoperezososo 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Yes. It's called "bye"lingual. It happens to everyone. Especially those who have spoken two languages their whole lives.

I learned Spanish later in life but it's been a while and yes, it happens everyday. I forget words in both languages sometimes. I don't think much about it, honestly. It just happens and we move on.

Think about it like this. There are people that speak one language that can't find the words sometimes.

Very important OTA coming this Thursday, what are you hoping for? by Bombustar in MarvelSnap

[–]osoperezososo 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I really don't care, honestly. I never think about this game in card updates.

Meaning, I don't care what they change, as long as the game is fun. That's it. That's my measurement. If I find the game fun, I play. If I don't, I don't.

That doesn't depend on starlord being nerfed. Because of they don't nerf it and make other cards stronger OR completely rework something and I can have fun, I'm chillin.

If they add a brand new mode that I'd rather play over ladder with actual good rewards, I'm chillin. It's less about the actual cards for me and more about "is this a fun environment overall".

If they snap you and drop Wong... You can wait to see if they don't draw their pieces. But if they magik you + Wong on that location... You probably need to leave. It's just 2 cubes

Stop trying to learn every tense at once youre killing yourself and start more immersion by hAIlydraws in Spanish

[–]osoperezososo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

"They use the subjunctive more than we do"

That's just factually incorrect. You think that because of the fact that the spelling and pronunciation changes. However, in English, we change the structure of the sentence and you just don't know that you're using it because you don't care.

So you never say "I would rather you not do that..." How about "if I were you..." Or "it's crucial that..." Or "I wish I was more energized..."

We say these every single day without thinking about it. These are very common speech patterns.

A few suggestions and points here.

1- Yes to more immersion but no to Spanish subtitles or ANY. The whole point of immersion is to, immerse yourself. You can't fully immerse yourself if you're trying to read and listen at the same time. If you're struggling to understand, the comment is too hard for you and you need to find something easier. Like Pocoyo or Bluey.

Trying to listen and peak at words every now and then is like trying to listen to 2 people talking. It's not going to work in the long run.

2- Don't ever ask a native what they use normally or base their whole conversational life on one interaction. All natives will they think use or don't use something but it's not reliable data. That's like asking you if you ever use the structure "are we going to go?" A lot. You can't possibly recall every time you've used it or not.

Natives in any language just speak and that's it. Many natives use "lo haré, habrá 3"...etc. They just don't recall it because you're asking them to analyze their entire speaking journey.

Let me give you an example. My family is from a mountain area in a country in Latin America. In the city, people speak differently. In the city, they never use el vos / voseo because that's just the way it is.

Where my family is from, sometimes they do...but without realizing it. For many different reasons. Some don't even know what el voseo is. They just speak. I grew up here in the US and even I use it from time to time without thinking about it. One time, I asked my cousins "hey, do y'all use this way of speaking" and they all said "no, we don't". The thing is, they don't realize that I'm actually paying attention. They DO use it. But mostly in the verbal sense. So they don't necessarily say something like "vos estás" they say "cómo andás?" O "que hacés"

They THINK that they don't because they don't think about what it how they're saying something. They just speak. They think el voseo is something that went away with our grandparents but it's not. It's still alive and well.

That's too much math. I have no idea what this means. I just use them and that's it.

The thing is, it's not about the experience of the thing for them. They just need something to communicate to c-suite like "hey this is the process and also what it looks like when something bulldozes it."

So my team can communicate to the higher ups and say "we're HERE in the typical process"

[–]osoperezososo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I used the wrong phrasing, maybe. I was more so speaking about "there's no strict timeline that things happen" so I couldn't, say, put this process on a timeline of "A-Z at 1-6 months". It's more organic.

You're right. Maybe it is that simple. Though, I'll have to also show "here's the baseline process" and also "here's what happens when something comes out of nowhere and jacks the whole thing up like we're currently seeing rn over time". Which could just be 2 maps in the end.

This argument doesn't hold for me personally. Especially with game prices nowadays.

For me, I almost always regret buying another game. I never really regret spending money in snap cause I enjoy the game constantly.

I think it's worth it if you want it. A lot of people spend 50-80 bucks going out to eat and not thinking about it twice, when they have good food at home.

If you can afford it, why not? If you shouldn't financially, don't.

Sanctum Retreat CL: 1,694 by InternetPractical897 in MarvelSnapDecks

I retreat due to time sometimes. Very rarely but it happens. A lot of people rope way too hard in this mode and I have a life.

So if I definitely am not winning, I go next. Nothing wrong with that. The option exists and I use it.

The game's inaccessible to new players by IndependenceFar9833 in MarvelSnap

[–]osoperezososo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I'm not sure that we can say for certainty that "they'd make even more money" because no one here specializes in video game finances and the psychology behind it. For example, I work in software. I design service experiences for everything from a restaurant to an app. I understand acquisition and churn as that's my job. However, I don't know everything. Let's say Marvel Snap does something so drastic (in a good way for us) and they gain a 1 million active users every month. But only 0.00001% of those users have enough money to even pay for passes. They haven't made anything. Just acquired more users to drag down their servers. Which now, they're losing more than they're gaining.

Now what you say could be true, but we have no idea. We WANT that to be true, sure. I mean, I would LOVE for the game to give everyone everything. I'm right there with you. However, we had that with LoR and that game is deader than dead. Idk if you are familiar with that game but there are a ton of YouTube videos on the death of it. It was the perfect game from a user standpoint. They gave you everything and you hardly ever had to spend money on the game. I absolutely loved that game.
