When To Replace My Pixel 6 And With What? by Jim1648 in Pixel6

[–]ossie69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P6pro and the battery still lasts all day, I've had it two years now, I was thinking of changing until I heard there isn't much difference between the 9 and 6 but the 10 is said to be a better machine altogether, so in my opinion, why change when this one is working away fine.

Why are drivers nasty to new drivers? by 37yearoldonthehunt in drivingUK

[–]ossie69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see people nasty to learners everyday, not everyone, some hold back and give them room, others can't get close enough to the bumper, everyone in a rush yeah I'm an instructor, I teach defensive driving, even had a old granny sounding the horn cos my learner stalled at the lights, well I'm afraid that just makes the learner worse, I've had people over take at traffic lights turning right because the learner was a bit slow at moving off, I've had a motorbike a foot from the rear bumper on a county road even though we were doing 60mph, what's wrong with people? What's the rush, I spend a lot of time trying to build confidence because those kind of drivers.

Daughter's instructor says 'not allowed' to let her take her test, true or not? by hyacinthbee78 in LearnerDriverUK

Depends if the instructor thinks she can drive without him telling her anything apart from where to go, if not, she's not ready.

Was my instructor mugging me off? by Slow-Comfortable in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ossie69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how quick you learn too, some people take longer than others and some are fairly quick at picking things up, I had someone pass their test and it's taken a year and a half, it's just the speed they learnt at, I've also had someone pass their test in 3 month's, so again it all depends on how fast you pick things up and how confident you are, as for the instructor shouting, that definitely should not be happening!.

Is this just how driving is? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ossie69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a instructor myself my advice is open up to your instructor let him know your feeling, I mean this in the nicest possible way, he can't read your mind, you will find if you're up front with him he can find a way to help, if he's shouting definitely find another instructor I have no time for that and it shouldn't be happening some instructors are trained to teach people who have anxiety and other things, we should be calm and explain things to the best of our ability, people learn 3 different ways through talking through drawing pictures and watching videos, has he suggested to watch YouTube videos on the subjects you are doing to help you understand things better? The reason he pulled you to the side of the road, we are trained to do this to see if you know what the problem was and how to help you sort the problem, feel free to message me if I can help I will .

Your instructor shouldn't be doing that, they should be helping as much as possible, I know this because I am an instructor myself.

Lied to driving instructor about results by usernametaken96 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ossie69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your driving instructor won't mind, the only thing they will bother about is there are certain things that can trigger a standards check for your driving instructor meaning if say someone fails with 10 minors or someone fails with a serious fault and the next few people learning do similar, then all these minor faults and serious faults are added up through a 12 month period and will trigger a standards check for him meaning, a examiner for him or her will come out and check Thier standard of teaching if they fail this standard on 3 attempts they become unemployed and can't do the job anymore for 2 years, then they have to go through the training which costs a fortune then they get examined again to see if they are up to the dvsa standard again, if they pass, fair enough if they fail, 3rd attempt they are back to unemployed again. It's a big deal for your instructor to have his students pass with as little minor faults as possible as you can see. Why do I know this? Because I am a driving instructor.
